As others have said, it's just a placeholder date. The companies will not know until we all know. SE would have been talking about the PS3 version being released by the end of this year. People can bring up the lack of promotion for XI and the PC version of XIV, but there is something very different here. Tanaka never divulged more than he had to. Yoshi-P is constantly telling us every time he sneezes. Two very different approaches, and with Yoshi-P's, he'd be telling us that the PS3 version is on its way very soon. He tells us about stuff 3+ months down the road all the time. Remember those armor sketches? The ones from months ago. The ones that still aren't in the game?

We'll likely hear of the PS3 version 6-9 months before it launches. First we'll hear about the beta coming. That's long before any release date. And honestly, SE would be completely stupid to not do a PS3 beta at this point. So many things were pointed out under Tanaka's watch that weren't fixed for months after release. The same thing could happen to a PS3 version if it doesn't receive a beta with a director who is willing to actually listen.

I am not sure about the beta for ps3, the game is make base from console to pc, so technical after they optimize the game it to suit the console and pc, it will be fine ?

If you're referring to a port, then I believe they stated it was a PC > PS3 port, or it was made ground-up on Crystal Tools for both versions and neither are ports. I don't remember. However, Beta tests still need to be done, because there's always a chance that some line of code in the PS3 version could cause a stutter somewhere in the pipeline that an in-house tester at SE didn't catch.

Though at this point, it won't surprise me if SE utterly fails at a PS3 launch too and releases it without a public Beta.

In more seriousness however, i don't care how much content is done but not released yet, October is too soon.
There is no way this game is even remotely ready for a PS3 launch.
If they launch it this October, we're all screwed.

Anyways, i agree with some of the other posters.
We'd know a lot more from Yoshi by now if October is real.

Well actually, think about the first three month we had with the game and now think about the first three months someone starting in October will have. I think it would be really fun.
Lets say PS3 Closed Beta starts in October, then released in January 2012. I think those first three months would be pretty sweet for PS3 users.

You know, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they wanted it out for November. Then again, that would be like making the same mistake they made for PC last year...

Either way, this makes for some fun speculation.

I feel that this game has plenty to keep ps3 players occupied for the duration of the game as long as the fix list gets finished before that point. I personally know would be PS3 players that are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the ps3 version so they can level and be ready for the new content. Granted, the new content in 1.18/1.19 will not be enough to satiate the player base for long. I would hope, however, that the ps3 version would be released soon to allow the community to grow and let other players start developing characters (who already would be if they could afford PCs to run the game, at least in my friends cases). But if the future content, post this summers fixes, really wont be implemented faster after 1.18 this plan wouldn't work. If the list we have will be implemented within this summer and new content is ready to be released shortly after that I really hope the game is released on ps3 as soon as possible. I want my friends back in the game I play and having more ppl around in an MMO never hurts. I can't say one way or the other whether they have enough content backed up or almost ready to release the PS3 version. I can say however that this game isn't getting any younger. We act like its new, due to changes in staff and soon to be in game changes, but in reality it has been out for almost a year. I have spent that year trying to keep up hopes among my friends about the possibility of playing this game (as my RL friends were my FFXI static since there are six of us total that MMO togther) but its getting hard to keep convincing them the game is changing enough to be on PS3 soon without input from the devs. I feel that if its possible 1.20 should be PS3 release and the game can continue to grow from there with new players and, at least in our small case, a happier community.

Personally, I think all the speculation in unnecessary. SE will not throw any dates out there for future patches and additions to the game (a few rough estimates at best), so what makes you think that they will give a release date for the PS3?? Be realistic (and reasonable), And don't expect the PS3 release this year. If it comes before then, it'll be a pleasant surprise. But there is soooo much they still NEED to do, and then there are the few things they still WANT to do...

It was said by Devs that the PS3 version will be their last chance... in other words, it has to be perfect before it comes out. Understand, if they release it prematurely it will be the end of this game.
