That is interesting that a subsidiary Amazon site has a different date.

And I am not trying to pass this off as a definitive date, but what caused them to change it from Dec 2020, to Oct 2011? Just random chance?

Because they are expecting the release to be around then. But it is never final until SE officially announces it. Amazon will keep adjusting the date accordingly. They do this all the time. It may be that SE sent them pictures and stuff about the release indicating that it will be soon.

Still there's a lot of room for push backs.

When they re-release this game on PC and also release it on PS3/eventually 360, they REALLY need to re-invent the cover art for the non collectors edition. That is some of the worst art I've seen and they have so much available all over the site that could easily be better.

Aside CE box art, the SE version really doesn't..display much.

I dont think SE would release the ps3 version of this game, with out doing it BIG. So an unexpected Aug. release (which is next month) would be a bad marketing ideal, especially for what this game needs. I would expect this game to be done by next year, maybe summer time to be honest. We will know far ahead of time about it.

I was using August as an example for a month too soon. October is in the same boat. If they plan to have this game re-reviewed with positive feedback, then October would be too soon. The initial core server/system revamps aren't even out yet, and it's nearing mid July. Yoshi would HAVE to release content in huge patches at-least 1 to 2 times per month, and start publicly announcing the ps3 release very soon with great advertisement, and we all know SE would not take a risk like that again. I would highly doubt this games ps3 news/release to be anything shorter than that of 2012 and beyond.

I would expect SE to hype the release of the PS3 version to try to bring people back and draw more in. I would think some advertising for a couple months before the release of the PS3 version would be on the table. But then again, this is SE. lol

Until a couple days ago Amazon had NO DATE LISTED FOR our beloved Final Fantasy XIV for PS3, trust me, I check Amazon often. If you click on the details button for the release date it says what a release date is and how the publisher will update Amazon on changes in the date, which will be updated on the site. Do I think that date will change? Heck yea its fricken SE we are talking about. I do think that may be the date SE has in mind for the game though. 1.18 is what July 20thish? I forgot and I just read the letter about it hahaha. So if they do another giant patch before October it could happen. PS3 launch will pretty much make or break this game, its a fact. So they might try and get a new group of people with that launch(plus all the PC players who would rather play on PS3) than start charging for the game to get some cash since SE was down a lot of money for their fiscal year(thanks largely to the bomb that was XIV). Hell I can do the marketing for them...............We got crazy World of Warcraft instance based content now and guess what? We arent in Azeroth anymore.....Again!!! <---Rift marketing=Genius

They are now taking Fatigue out of the game? Sorry, but if that isn't a sign to get ready for a PS3 release than I do not know what is. The system everyone hated and complained about is now going to be a thing of the past? New players can now catch up to their friends easier without a crappy penalty system? So revamped combat system, instanced content, fatigue system gone........Might not be October for PS3 launch but its probably soon
