We definitely need a /slap emote.

One thing that really bugs me is the /sit emote.
In FFXI, after sitting down by using the /sit emote, you could stand back up simply by moving the analogue stick on your controller or pressing the movement keys on your keyboard. But in FFXIV, this convenience is stripped away from us, and instead we're forced to type /sit again if we want to stand back up.
Please change FFXIV's /sit emote to work more like FFXI's /sit emote!

Here's a vote for /damnit
When cast on self should be something like "Well I'll be damned.."
Here's a few:
/breakdance
"[character name] came to get down, so get out your seats and jump around. Jump around, jump up and get down. Jump around."
/kfc
"[character name] pulls out a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chocobo, and starts munching contentedly on a juicy leg piece..."
/explode
"[character name] suddenly explodes in a fiery burst, leaving behind a small pile of ash..."
/loseallgriponreality
"[character name] puts on a tinfoil hat and starts rambling incoherently. The words are difficult to make out, but you think you hear him/her mumble something about little grey men and how the government is watching us with little cameras hidden in our cereal..."
/becomeakitty
"[character name] has become a kitty! =^_^="
/redmage
"[character name] jumps into the sky and flies away."
/jpbutton
"[character name] claims NM, gets gil, makes HQ, becomes stronger, and gets drop."
/chilicheese
"[character name] believes in the heart of cards and claims Salad NM to get Crouton drop."
/lifebeltgloves
"[character name] ponders the nature of the mysterious Life Belt, wondering if, perhaps, it might be a pair of gloves..."
/dowekitefaust
[character name] says, "Hey guys, this is potato. I'm a galka rdm/smn, the only viable subjob for rdm because of autorefresh and garuda (holy s*** she has big t*****). Anyways, I was wondering, I'm in a superdy cool hnmlmnos and I was wondering how do you fight faust, do you kite him or something?"
/lolbifrons
"[character name] summons Tempyst to dump french fries on the head of a legendary mob..."
/pandemoniumwarden
"[character name] spends 18 solid hours fighting against an unreasonably difficult boss and loses."
/wow
"[character name] logs off to go play a better MMO..."

/hug and /kiss? Self explanatory.
F*** yeah, green apples!
LMFAO ITS TRUEHey Eemeefu,
I have a few things for emotes I would like to see, maybe some others would agree with me. I would like to have a /sigh emote for those times when you just need to... well sigh. Someone is taking forever to come so you can target them and sigh. Another one is /smile. It was always nice in FFXI to exchange a warm smile with a jp player or a friend. I really don't have emotes currently to fill these gaps. There is /stagger but it's just not a /sigh.
A personal Roegadyn request though... could you possibly have them create a Roegadyn wave that is less ridiculous. The Roegadyn wave is more like a LOOT AT ME OMG.. sometimes I just want to toss someone a simple wave.
Thanks for reading
As a female player, playing a female hyur character I feel slightly embarrassed at the over exaggerated and often not feminine emote set that's attached to my race. Perhaps it's a cultural disconnect, but when I emote I don't feel girly and cute like a lala or miquote which I'm often jealous of their animation. Rather, I feel like some sort of wildly motioning loon.
I'm sure its been aforementioned elsewhere, but the "meh" emote would be better aptly named "huh".
Some new emote's I would love to see:
-Slap
-hug or kiss (blow a kiss? Would be funny on a bulky roegadyn)
-face palm
Well, I'll be the party pooper, I'd rather not see /damnit. I don't speak that way, and it doesn't fit the elegance I usually see in FF games either, imo. Barret and other few uncouth characters nonwithstanding.
Thanks for the responce =D the word for the emote that came to my mind was /darn so if damnit is going too far darn or darnit might work as a substitute being the light version. With the benefit of hindsight, we aren't crazy about /fume either, and have been leaning towards changing it to something a bit fouler and much more fun to type. We've been kicking around a few ideas (like /damnit), but have to run them by some people to make sure they are allowed under the game's current rating. Hence the late reply to this thread. Soz for that!
Unfortunately, it's too late to sneak this or any other emote changes into 1.18. The UI team has informed us, however, that we should be able to tweak emotes as much as we like in 1.19. Until then, I can only /ask that you /grin and /bearit... (crickets chirping) I... I'm sorry.
Feel free to post any other suggestions you have for emote commands or emote-related log text. We consider emotes to be extremely important, as they are often the primary means of communication between players in different regions, and so we are always amenable to improving their clarity wherever possible.
Duly noted!
This Roegadyn speaks of important business! I lost count of how often I actually typed /sigh and nothing happened. It's probably my most used emote in XI and I'm sure it would be the same in XIV. The /smile is something I missed a few times as well, so I'd definitely sign for both of them.[...] I would like to have a /sigh emote for those times when you just need to... well sigh. Someone is taking forever to come so you can target them and sigh. Another one is /smile. It was always nice in FFXI to exchange a warm smile with a jp player or a friend. I really don't have emotes currently to fill these gaps. There is /stagger but it's just not a /sigh. [...]
One other emote I used quite a bit in XI is a simple /nod. Sure, in XIV I can always use /yes, and the text even says "You nod to [target]". But the animation and voice looks more like "You agree with [target]", whereas sometimes I only want to nod as kind of a greeting or so. What I'd suggest is:
/yes = "You agree with [target]."
/nod = "You nod to [target]."
I'm not sure how much influence you localization folks have on adding new emotes, but I really hope that one fine day at least the /sigh will return!
