Are people forgetting the first relic grind?

The whiners are always the loudest because they're spending more time here than playing the game, but I just wanted to remind everyone of the original relic grind. Are people forgetting the insane amount of crappy groups you had to go through for Chimera, Hydra, Garuda HM and especially Titan HM for the first relic? Of course they don't remember because they either asked people to help them or paid for the carry.

I was one of the people that beat Titan HM first time without a carry and it was a dedication that required 2-3 weeks. First, we had to gear up to have decent HP for tumults and at least farm Ifrit or Garuda HM for the weapons before attempting him. It was one hell of a challenge as fresh 50's.

Now we have the new relics and many already have it the very second day. Because guess what, it requires absolutely no challenge at all. It's hilarious people found a way to whine about this. They probably didn't see the launch days. If anything, this is more casual in everything. You will get your new weapon faster than you beat Titan HM the first time (if you did that legitly).

lol? do u even know what ppl r whining about? i dont think so...they dont whine about all the grinding, they whine about fkin low atma droprates and (becoz of that) extreme boring fate farming. the real grind starts after the arma collecting. i dont see a problem in that 2nd step for relic update, but the first part is rly rly bad coz of RNG...but...there are enough of such threads here...so...just saying the first "relic grind", what u say wasnt even a grind, was totaly not the same we are seeing now.

I would rather do all that 20 times over than to have to keep farming these Atmas. Almost 20hrs and still only 1 atma. There are some people that still don't even have one and they have done more than 20hrs.

I had to get off I started to fall asleep. Same thing happened to me pre 2.1 all the time, I hated doing fates they are boring.

Everyone enjoys the idea of the books, not many enjoy the RNG unless they are one of the lucky few, posting here to show off their weapon and torment those that have not had any luck with the RNG.

Yeah, except that Titan HM was actually challenging and enjoyable, whereas mindlessly grinding low level FATEs is neither of those.

Even when I was suffering through shitty group after shitty group in Titan HM as a freshly minted 50 at launch I was still having more fun inside the duty than I'd be having spamming Bio in FATE groups.

If anything, this is more casual in everything. You will get your new weapon faster than you beat Titan HM the first time (if you did that legitly).

This Atma grind will take anywhere from 25 (very low end) to 50 hours for a dedicated player to complete, depending on luck. It did not take the average person 40 hours of gameplay to kill Titan HM unless they were very bad or had absolutely awful luck with groups.

I was blocked on Titan for almost a week before clearing him and it was probably around 10 hours of play.

The Atma/Animus weapon grind is the most casual addition to FFXIV. There are other weapons obtainiable through the content that actually require you to play the game, which are much harder to get and equally as strong as the max upgraded animus.


Either you can spawn camp fates for hours while you try not to nod off to sleep, or you can progress into Leviathian and obtain his weapon, and upgrade that.


One takes hours of grinding, another takes hours of actually playing FFXIV.

I long for the first relic quest. The only challenge for atmas is to figure out how to put all the spells you haven't used for months like blizzard back onto your hotbar.

Doing like an average of 40fates per map is not that bad ... at least for me (( took me around 18hours to get 12 Atmas )) but still worth it
I enjoyed doing a Win-Win... Farmed for my Weapon also farmed the seals for my crafts to get 2 crafts to master and I think i'll be start farming next weapon ( Atma weapon )

Maybe they should replace Atma farming with Hamlet Defence 1.0 ^^
Or put in some sort of ranking to the FATEs and the ones in the top 3 get a higher droprate
