Should be able to meld it up some. Not as much as initially foretold e.g. Tier V materia.

I suspect Tier V will have things like +9 Piety/Determination or +13 Critical/Spell Speed/Accuracy. Two of those suckers and you likely have something marginally better than Myth or Coil One drops. Forbidden meld it if feeling saucy and it'll be the best i90 you can get.

Alas, without Tier V, it has made the journey less fruitful at this time.

Spell speed or not, quint meld them and they're massive upgrades to i90 gear.

According to http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen..._materia_caps/, you can meld at least 34 crit to the robe, so if you're not hurting for MP/piety, it's an upgrade even for SCHs.

Losing determination and piety for spell speed which will only improve your recast by 0.01 seconds looks like a downgrade to me.

Especially when server latency will make up for that Spell Speed (by not casting the spell at all)
