you can call it crazy because it's realy that XD, if you wait you can get a weapon easier, when the 2.4 will come out it will be a choice for a crazy farm to uppgrade nexus to another step or do shiva and get a ilevel115 weapon, and wait 2.5 to have a easier way to get a ilevel120 to 130 weapon.
There is not realy a point to do the relic upgrade exept for hardcore farmer XD
I'm thinking you missed the point about the lack of any visual or observed progress in the Atma quest.
When you're doing your Novus or Nexus, you have visible and observable progress. You're grinding items or currency to progress to the next stage. Every aspect of the process shows progress. The Atma questline, however, does not. The only progress you have to judge by is the actual atma piece. Whether you got that piece in 4 minutes or 4 months is only a matter of RNG. Nothing you do affects it.

People are typically content with a time-sink, however, an indeterminate time-sink with no observable progress that's entirely ruled by RNG is typically hated by all.
This is nearly as bad as Path of Exile's crafting system.
