Got mine from Syrcus Tower, then I saved the soldiery tomes and then I got the Conqueror for the Warrior. This was before the most recent patch. Now you can get your sands and oil in ST as well.
I got all 12 atma for ONE CLASS and it took me, I would say, at least a collective 40 hours getting them all to drop. That's really unacceptable. There has got to be a way for us to do this without relying on "LUCK." 1% luck is not fun.
I am very hesitant to do this again as I feel like I wasted all of this time getting my Curtana to Atma without stat boosts. To get the stat boosts, we have to do the books for 1500 myth each. (totally separate issue) I think this design is totally flawed.
I really hope SE does something about this since 2.4 is almost here.
They won't make ATMA changes, I'm sure. Its not fair to all those who have already finished that phase. They didn't change things in FFXI, and you shouldn't hope that they would do it here. Its a RELIC Weapon, and you DO have other options (Alternative Weapons). Relics in FFXI takes much longer, and is not intended to be a rush.
I'm still on my ATMA after 5 months on and off. Still, this is to be expected. If they DID change this, SE would probably get reported to the BBB, due to backlash of so many others who finished ATMA prior. **Laff*
They said they might consider increasing the atma drop rate once they increase the level cap, actually. They won't make ATMA changes, I'm sure. I hated the Atma phase. It was horrendous, never knowing if you were going to get one or not. Plenty of people in my FC are stuck on Atma, because of the RNG aspect. I felt pretty relived when I passed it. I'm less than ten Alexandrites from my Novus now, and haven't looked back. Will I do it again? No. That much mindless grinding in hopes of a miniscule drop isn't my idea of entertainment. Of course, supposedly Alexandrites drop from FATEs now. Never seen it happen *shrug*

That's funny because what about those people who waited for the week to be over just so they could once again cap 300 myth per week back in 2.0 so they could Zenith their relic? What about those people now since myth is so easy to get? Are we getting backlash from those people too? What are you even talking about, there's no backlash from those players. So please.
My problem is the RNG factor. There is 1 in 100 chance that you are going to get at atma if you have a Zenith weapon equipped. That is not the kind of grind any of us want. At least give us something that's more progression-based. (i.e. do 25/50/[insert # here] fates in one area and receive an atma.)
You said it's not intended to be a rush, but some people got all 12 atmas in a span of less than 3 hours while others took weeks, even months to get all 12. Is that what you'd consider a rush? 3 hours =/= 40+ hours. How is this fair?
It's entirely possible to never get an Atma, like me for instance. 2 days in Southern Than and still nothing.
Play by the rules, or the game is nothing.

Its not fair. Yea, I get it. But if you think SE is going to change anything, you are going to be in a world of hurt. The stark reality is... posting on this forum isn't really going to make a difference. I've done over 2000 fates, and well beyond 100 hours- and I do so casually while watching Netflix. I have no high expectation, I just flow with it. The energy it takes to post here, is best used getting an alternate weapon. That which fair is simply irrelevant to RNG. Centershock, progression tracking starts with the Myth grind you do for the Animus- your wish is granted! GRATS! =)
I feel the pain of the grind, but I also accept it. This is the price to be paid for not seeking out the alternative weapons.
Hoping for ATMA changes is a waste, period.
Watch TV, Netflix, take breaks, go with the flow- or you may go mad. Deal with it!
It's funny that it's people like you who don't have these problems then look down on others when they express their opinions about these problems. Go take your high horse elsewhere, or at least provide helpful input instead of just telling us to accept it and telling us that hoping is a waste of time. I honestly don't believe you understand a word I'm saying. I also love that you didn't answer my question about myth grinding back in 2.0 when the cap was 300 so I'm not going to bother. Its not fair.
