A grind is not a challenge. I can mindlessly spam flash, blizzard II, instant cast spells and just leech gold rating wins. That's not challenging. And some players have been running these for 12 hours with no drops.
why not post what fates you got the atma in and in which area it was found in. instead of Fate grinding 24/7. I found the atma of the archer in a Ziz fate in North Shroud
I agree that nobody is forcing anyone to farm atma. However, a huge element of wanting to see and run endgame content is wanting to have the best gear in the game. First of all, the gamers who run endgame content and the gamers who would want so spend 5-6000 hours running mindless low level content are rarely the same. So to say spending several hours doing something you wont enjoy just so you can have an item to use for content you actually will enjoy is just silly. Second of all, I consider the relic weapon quests a main part of the FFXIV experience. We are forced to do a long and unexciting main story line in order to unlock so much of this games content (WHY?!) So of course we are going to do a little bit more to get awesome gear. The part everyone is having a hard time with is why an extremely low drop rate item farm would be the next step in this saga. In theory you could potentially NEVER receive a SINGLE ATMA let alone 12!
The problem with Atmas is how random it is. How is it fair to the guy who has been grinding low level FATEs for three hours that some random guy joins the party and gets the drop after one FATE? The guy that has been there for hours has clearly put in the work, yet the other guy gets the reward? Ridiculous.
Since obtaining Atmas is pure chance this causes the player to feel like they've wasted their time if one does not drop at the FATE's conclusion. Unacceptable. Tedium should not be mistaken for challenge, and grinding low level FATEs for Atmas is pure tedium. Nobody is asking for instant Atma drops here, they just want to feel like they are making progress, which is sorely lacking from the current way things are set up.
The whole system is horrible. You may think that doing the book objectives once you get all 12 Atmas is better, and it is, up until you have to complete a FATE that hasn't occurred for 5 hours.
Boycotting this garbage fate grind going to get soldiery weapon instead. Fates are my least favorite thing in this game next to seasonal events. Maybe we'll get lucky and Yoshi will step down soon.
the thing is i love how when the atam thing started se said they would listen to the players more and that they'll make games fun... lies all lies what since march they didn't do anything and the soonest we can hope they will change the way atamas are dropped is after 2.3 patch so ya grind'ohoy ppl, and if ppl say "no its ok", i bet a sheep's uncle and a fat pig that they already have their atama weapon, well guess what? good for you. ppl are playing money to have fun in a final fantasy world .. and grinding like its a f2p mmo is not fun, and before you say you think this is hard , i don't, i think its not fun, i think is mind boggling boring and ridculously time consuming. to say so you want everthing handed to you, no i want a final fantasy adventure to get my atama weapon thats what i want , if you say well ff11 was long and hard well we're not in ff11 first off ff11 was a menu based game, slow paced compared to ff14
, i played a while and left it becuase of it's pace. you say , you don't have to get it? the atma grind is for ppl that can't find groups to run raid what do you think it was made for? a raid group? no a casual player to get a high lvl weapon , guess what you have to get it to be on par with the raiders to at least try and raid with them unless you be ostrised by the raiding party and before you say oh well get into an fc, now thats where you don't ahve to get a fc. this is my view on this atama fiasco what SE did , they were doing so well too. you wanted to stop ppl from progressing then lengthen the time between patches , cuz thats what it really is about SE couldn't keep up and had to slow down the hungry grubbing content eaters.
GOOD DAY YOU MUNCHKINS GO HAVE SOME PIE, AND HAIL MOFO'IN HYDRA!!!
ps. screw my spelling errors
A better idea would've been to make the ATMA drop at the end of the leveling dungeons. That would've made the grind less boring and all the level 50s would actually be helping the lower level players progress. Instead of having gear/weapons drop at the boss, if you have your Relic Zenith equipped you have a chance at the ATMA drop. If they were going to recycle content those lower level dungeons would've been better than FATEs. I know theres low level roulette. But I think we are all tired of getting Haukke Manor on roulette. Or am I the only that happens to?
They really need to do something about the drop rates for Atma. it took 173 Fates for a total of 74 hours combined in the span of 3 weeks just to get Atma of the maiden. 173 Fates is just ridiculous for a single Atma. Yes i had zenith equipped and had the quest the whole time even checked 4 times to make sure i had the quest. currently working on Atma of the Goat and on my 31st fate. I don't think it should take more then 40-50 fates to get an Atma. If you get to 100+ fates and still no drop, the drop rates need to be fixed. Yes i do get your supposed to work and grind for the Atma but at the same time if the drop rates are too low and you spent 70+ hours on 1 Atma it will off-put many players who have a Job or family and dont want to spent that kind of time for 1 out of 12 pieces. I like the idea of the scaling drop rate but add 10% every 15 - 20 fates or so.

So I completed this grind a while ago but never got around to posting it. I have been having more and more players from my server asking me to post a screenshot and while I know its not exactly pretty in terms of looks. It gets the point across. Before anyone asks. I think fate grinding is fun and it's nice to know SE holds onto low-RNG tradition from XI.
Yes I do have 1 Novus, and 1 Atma weapon per Job. And yes, I also have 12 atmas set aside for when Ninja launches. In any case, anyone else have this same lifeless accolade? Or striving for it perhaps?

3.5k Achievement Score. 50 Titles. All atma weapons. 1 Novus. 12 atma set aside for Ninja. Yep. No life.
