It's still RNG. I've yet to see any atma myself, after about 30 fates. Can't say I can be bothered to grind them at that rate.

All I can say is this is the laziest thing I have heard. You can grind any dungeon 30+ times at hope for a piece of gear. Playing the wrong game if you can't handle RNG.
There are measures in place to ensure that you can upgrade your gear to a certain point regardless of RNG. The soldiery and poetics points. You also always have the option to buy/craft gear as well (although that's quite expensive or time consuming at high level). But the point is, a person can be well geared even if they were to never get a single dungeon drop.
A person can never upgrade their weapon past the atma step if the RNG is pissing on them.

30 fates is nothing really, some of us Pre atma drop rate increase have done well over 500 fates, myself i have done over 1000 back then. I was doing fates every day for 3+ months for all 12 atmas
Some areas Thanalan for example i was there a full 2 weeks before seeing a drop.
Point is it is way easier then it once was, the rate of increase that should now change is the Zodiac line and the dungeon drops since they have also increased light. Zodiac was almost as painful as atma

If people are complaining about the new drops rates, you should have been here for the old ones. It took me almost 300 fates to get ONE Atma back then. So stop complaining.
Regardless of how you set the probability, you still leave the chance that someone will get completely screwed by RNG. It's a shitty feeling to sit there for hours on end, knowing that the next fate will have no more chance to get your atma than all those other fates you've done in the area.
If it were some sort of fair progression such as "Complete 10 FATEs in X zone to get the atma", you could grind knowing that you'll get the atma drop after a bit.

Gods no, those starting atma now will not at all know how it was before atma drop rate was changed. 4+ months for my Bard Relic, doing fates 3 or more hrs per day.
New drop rate was already introduced when Ninja came out, and i had full atmas in a week or less to put it in perspective.
But yeah the entire fate random drop idea and the Zodiac quest are huge fails XD
2 days.
BLM flinging fire here and there, completed most fates in 3 minutes or less. About 2 hours the first day = 9 atmas.
DRG on second day, completed most fates in 3 minutes or less. About 2 hours second day = 3 atmas.
So.. yeah. Definitely A LOT better pre-Ninja times.
Did two sets when ATMA was a new thing first set 3 weeks full grind evenings and weekend (got Scorpion twice while doing a FATE passing by tho) second set I cannot tell did FATEs passing by when we did maps or other stuff in the area and while waiting on DF or PF to fill i "farmed" but I guess around 4-5 weeks as well (got here twice the one in Central Thanalan lol).
Decided to do a 3rd relic last week out of a mood (actually had no clue which class i'd do so checked Ironworks weps n chose out of the weps with worst stats there) took me around 8 hour to get all. Never passed much longer than 30 min in one area, actually did first 5 hours with a good friend rule one of us gets + max 5 fates.
3 months farming atma before they improved drop rates, I wish i could say I have sympathy for '30 fates no atma' but my psychiatrist says i have to let go to completey to purge that nightmare. Which kinda makes this comment an atma relapse
