I don't get it, isn't the whole point of instances to not limit how many parties can run a dungeon at the same time?

Yes, but that doesn't mean there isn't any limitations. It may be 100 groups, it may be 10, but it's never "infinite".

From what I understand, the only limitation we will come across is that only groups of 4 and 8 people can do a dungeon at this point. Probably because the maximum number of groups allowed inside is closer to 10 than 100 until they increase it (by server).
