I don't think people would care if the gear was more revealing or not if the gear was actually somewhat appealing looking. I love the realism, I'm just underwhelmed with mage gear I guess :/

So this topic's name is attracting so many posts soon enough Bayohne will post here something like:
"Hey, gang! I asked Yoshida about your desire of having sluts, strippers, topless and spicy armors ingame...and his answers was to suggest you guys a more frequent usage of doujins."
But seriously...this game has some decent appealing armors...subligaria here beats FFXI one by far, most undershirt/undergarments too...and the coatees...i can't say how much i wanted such kind of armor.
About the comments regarding leg pieces to be like FFXI ones, coatee set follows FFXI pattern, having different looking for male and female characters...so all you need to do is wait. Also, keep in mind that summer festival is just around the corner! I can't wait for swimsuits/bikinis to pop here! ^^
But if you guys want to increase sexappeal from current armors, just ask them to add physics to dody pieces (if you know what i mean)...this is the main point of Tifa becoming so popular. =P
About having more/less armor showing, i suggested them a while ago the option of partially hiding armors, like being able to hide the legs protector from subligars, the band and the bra from shirts, the belly protector of harnesses, visors from barbuts, etc. This way you can have the armor you want, but without being forced to cover your character more than you want.
And, finally, once crysta system is up, having skins are also a good option since they're something only the skin owner can see. This will happen anyway so why not having an official way of obtaining them...even for 18+ skins.

I'm surprised nobody by now has mentioned the recurring GLD leve "Pleasure and Pain" where all the whores in Ul'dah thought it would be just OSSUM to pierce "sensitive places" so now you have to restock the guild's supply of earrings...
GLD is not GLA! But apparently, it IS GSM!

I'm playing to play final fantasy, not to get an erection. Plus this game is rated "T".

I'm not sure about 'sex appeal' but I think more attractive gear would be wonderful. Currently, gear seems a bit bland to me in game, but I'm not looking for outrageous, overthetop, lightsaber, gear either, lol. Simple, but fashionable? I wouldn't look for sex appeal past a coatee for example, that's starting to head too far into it I think. It would be nice if new sets weren't just old sets with added pieces, but something more original and with a bit of flare.
Characters in past final fantasies have some very interesting gear that I don't think is too extravagant, but definitely has a striking look. A few I think of are Ramza, Delita, Zidane, Auron, Blathier, Fran, Fang, and Vanille as a few examples. Most characters from final fantasies (the more detailed ones anyway) are quickly and easily recognizable and partially so because of their detailed gear.
Pretty much all gear from tactics (style wise) I could see fitting into ffxiv and more of an Ishgardian flare. Then when I think of Auron, his outfit reminds me of gear that would be more familiar to Thanalan territory alongside Fang's. Balthier and Zidane with the slight steampunk style would be more common to La Noscean territory, then more savage/wild gear like Vanille or Kimahri smiliar to Black Shroud style. When I mention Fran, that is sex appeal there, but it's also creative and possibly could fit in a gear role for another sort of city. (I think Garlean and dark knight sort of things, for starters.)
I think more over, character customization and allowing you to make your character shine visually will overall interest people to continue developing that character or working towards a new piece, etc. I would even go so far as to say they should allow crafting to make a piece of gear look like one, but have the stats of another, with reasonable consequence. Then people lose that argument of choosing to pick something that looks fashionable over having something that has the stats they want. (Example: The look of a cotton robe with the stats of a vintage, but by crafting it that way you lose both items to make the new one, and then it has a trade count? Like it can only be traded 3 times before it becomes untradeable.)
Anyway, previous Final Fantasies have had serious style/fashion with individual characters and I think they should bring more of that feel into this game alongside more colors, styles, and ways to make your character unique.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Sex appeal as in "fashion" not as in, how easily I get aroused. Starting to wonder if this is the eng forum since half he people here don't know how to read. Out of the 10% of people that are actually giving helpful ideas and advice, most everyone else is just complaining. No one wants to read about a bunch of wining American opinions. What they do want to see is something constructive.

Well, FFXI didn't have any.. of that.. I mean, look at the mithras. They were SO ugly, and it was still pretty successful. That being said, I did feel pretty.. s*** in the swim suit or the wedding dress as a brd.

I disagree, there's lot to feast your eyes on in XIV. Just not oversized (and ridiculous) bouncing boobies. Many NPCs even strut in their underwear if you pay attention. Heck, Lady Minfilia in the storyline quests doesn't have a proper top on her chest. Then there's TONS of textual sexual insinuations, again if you pay attention. Anyone who took a Miqo'te companion will tell you lots of stories how their companion NPC is basically a wh0reThen there's an (almost) strip club in Ul'dah inside the Miners' Guild. A bar, a stage and a Miqo'te dancer in underwear? Try convincing me that it's not a strip club :3
Miqo'te and Roegadyn pretty much cater to 2 big sexual obsessions and SE even tampers, although very carefully with shota in form of Lalafel.
Just cause it's not as obvious and in your face as some other games it appears to be more 'mild', but in fact I dare to say I've witnessed some pretty disturbing scenes and I've read some quite questionable lines in FF titles in general. They just like to sneak it under the radar into your retinas.

Well, with jobs we're getting job-specific gear, if I remember that concept art post on Lodestone that featured some pretty fierce looking mage clothes (among others). Also there's quite a bunch of NPCs with unique(ish) looking threads in game right now whose thread's I'd love to steal! (mostly different skins, not the actual 3D models). Hopefully all of that soon.
Perhaps the term used should be 'attractiveness' instead of 'sex appeal'?
More than fashion, I want better character customization, in as near a future as possible. We don't all got to have porcelain waxed skin, some of us would actually like diversity in form of body hair >_> As well as more hairstyles/face hair options. The Highlander Hyur have what? Like, 3 types of hairstyles to chose from? And it's not fun seeing many people with identical face tattoo patterns in only a different colour :x More scars, more birthmarks, more everything :U
And toe-long beards and hair for Lalafels so I don't feel weird when I pet themIt'll also make them look like cousin It
P.S. Whatever happened to the barber shop suggestion thread?
