With all due respect - (and I realize those post might have been dramatic)... the design trajectory this kind of quest indicates could certainly be a determinate factor for whether or not to re-sub for some people. That would be understandable. It is a departure from the previous playing style.

Seeing as a lot of FFXIV 1.0 "faithfuls" quit after the game took it's current design route and trajectory, I wouldn't doubt your statement at all. If people see this quest as an indication of the game shifting in design, then that would explain why many are threatening to quit over it.
