    Benediction on Dead Players

There has been alot of very close calls where Benediction just goes off too late and ends up being used on yourself because you targeted a 0hp player.

How do you healers find this? I personally wish benediction doesn't go off when you are targeting a corpse, because it is a very valuable skill that has a 5 min CD.

I'm not sure what the technical limitations are or that is an intended design, which I can live with, but its a quality of life thing and it would be nice, personally if that changed.

It sure is a kick in the teeth when that happens, but with time, you'll learn when/how to use it properly.

People often consider it an 'OH SHI-' button, but try not to treat it as that.

    Practical uses:
    • Turn 4 Phase 5 - 2 Dreads.
+ For the duration of having two dreads active, all cooldowns must be burnt (i90) to preserve the MT, Divine Seal followed by PoM finally planned bene or wait for tank immunity then restore applying stoneskin.
    • When Holy spamming in Cleric Stance, use bene to heal without breaking dps.
    • Post in-battle revive.

But yeah... I hate that delay.

Wait, I'm confused. How is Yoshi all of these accounts with different post counts/characters...

Edit: Looks like I'm Yoshi, too. haha.
    Nice April Fools joke. xD

Back on topic... I usually use it when someone gets below 800 HP. I never risk waiting til the last second.

The skill has almost never worked for me as an 'Oh Sh!t' button. Usually, by then it's too late and I only waste it. But, when used deliberately it is a great tool. Maybe everyone has taken a lot of damage, so I let myself fall behind healing the tank to get everyone else topped off, then Benediction gets me right back on top.

I still use it as an emergency button but I've gotten a lot better at recognizing when it will need to be used ahead of time. For example, I have begun using it if the tank isn't at a point that is comfortable for me and I get targeted with an AOE i need to move out of immediately. Also, situations where I'm losing the race to keep the tank alive like in Turn 1 when stacks start to get up there, I will Benediction if they get to around 30%. It ends up working out nicely in these situations as the tank will get dropped to critical HP mid-animation and then get topped off.

I'll echo what has been said. Stop thinking about Benediction as an "OMG" button (though it certainly will be used as one quite often) - Best application for it is a proactive Heal when you know that a storm of damage is coming and you are losing the healing fight. I often see healers use it when the tank is almost dead and its very common that it is cast on yourself (has happened to me heaps of time) but rather, learn the fights and know when peaks of damage are coming. Good communication with your tanks and cooldown usages will give you a good idea when you might need to use Benediction. But if all else fails, quick thinking and OMG Benediction should still work. : )

Benediction should also come with an invulnerability effect for 7 seconds or something. Lustrate is exponentially better (75% heal every minute) vs 100% every 5 minutes. Lustrate works as an "OH SHI-" button because there is rarely overflow, you can hit it when the tank gets to 50% without feeling like you're losing anything. The nature of Bene makes it feel like you should wait longer, but it tempts fate. An invulnerability period would help avoid some of that and make it a better post-resurrection tool especially for reviving tanks.
