Well Fish and clams are useable.. mine brings that confetti stuff and jars of Secretions... I am not sure what her hint with that combination is.

After the leatherworking bench, mine have brought back a stuffed chocobo and now a looming tonberry screen. Oh right, they've also downed good king mog hard mode and brought me back the smn book, which I have now glamored on my smn.

I got the bench too but nearly two weeks now and not sold, none ever sold on MB either

oh so to report back on what you can get 18 hour explorations i just got a mossy stone bow (guess you use it to make the giantsgall stuff) from my miner retainer (doesn't really matter what it is they all get the same stuff exploration wise) but it seems rank 12 gives you mossy stone stuff
