My level 11 retainer came back with Ifrit's axe.

I haven't even done Ifrit hard mode yet on my main character.

Are the people getting high level valuable items using quick ventures or the 18 hour ones? Is it possible to receive high level items with 18 hr adventures?

possibly but you can only do certain lvl ones. there is 18 hour explorations every 5 lvls so you will prolly need a lvl 50 retain in some good gear to get something nice from the 18. but that is just a thought i have no proof or anything my retainers are lvl 32 atm once they hit 50 i will put them in some good gear and see what comes from it.
