    Struggling to position in fights

Although i have played a few games like this i have never really put much time into them. I've come from league of legends and im really struggling to control the camera, move around and attack at the same time. I'm currently playing an archer.

I also find it hard in Fates to attack the mobs because there's so many people, how can i do that better?

    Thanks for any help.

I guess a lot of it comes down to your control scheme. Some people prefer keyboard/mouse, others like gamepad. Some people like standard camera settings, some like Legacy.

I personally have a keyboard and a 12 button mouse so really the only time I use my keyboard is for typing and for movement only. All of my abilities are mapped to my mouse and I use the right mouse button for camera movement in conjunction with the keyboard for movement.

The answers/suggestions would depend on your platform and whether you're playing with a game controller or mouse and keyboard. I play on PS3, using its controller for everything except chat, so that's the only setup I can offer suggestions for. Maybe somebody else can offer mouse/keyboard suggestions, but the remainder of this post is specific to controller players.

Actually, as to your first issue, I don't have much advice anyway. I've never been able to move and attack at the same time. It's true that archers don't need to stand still throughout the cast time of a spell like DoM classes usually do. But if you're using a controller, you still need to move your thumbs between the sticks to control movement and the buttons to fire off attacks, so you cannot really do both at the same time. It's simply that you only have to stop moving for the quick moment that it takes to hit the button you need and then you can start moving again.

As for targeting mobs when there's lots of players around, there is a setting that makes that a lot easier. Under the Character Configuration window, General section (left hand panel) / Filters tab (along the top) turn off "Enable target cycling" at the top (the part that lets you set targeting filters based on whether your weapon is drawn or not) and turn on "Enable Customization" below it.

This section lets you set up to four targeting filters and switch between them whenever you want. For instance, I have L1+[square] set to switch my system to only targeting mobs (useful when focusing on DPS or tanking). Then L1+[circle] sets it to only targeting players (useful when healing). L1+[triangle] sets it to targeting everything. You could also set one of them to targeting specifically NPCs, or else include NPCs along with players in your healing setup. They're all customizable.

With this targeting scheme, once you use the L1+(whatever) to choose a targeting group, then the right/left directional buttons will only cycle between members of that group until you use L1+(something else) to change to a different targeting group.

Practice, practice, practice. Force yourself to do the things you have the most trouble with. Also make sure your keybindings for abilities and movement don't interfere with each other. The default action keys (1 through = ) and the default movement keys are terrible together. There's no way you can run and hit = at the same time. So rebind your actions to keys you can actually use.

Personally, I use Legacy camera controls and strafing, and only ever use the mouse to turn. All my action keys are either keys clustered around the movement keys, with modifiers (alt and shift) for more.

    Thanks Bixby.

Ive changed to legacy and binded strafe to A and D.

Ive binded all of my abilities to my Num Pad on the right of the keyboard. Seems much better now.

I'd be careful with your abilities being that far away. Ove rtime you may want to see if you can't move them closer to your movement keys.
