Would just like to consolidate some of the questions roaming around the forums. This is not a thread about whether or not you like this quest, so please post your concerns, opinions, etc. in the other threads that are availble.
This thread is about the quest to obtain your new Zodiac Relic Weapons. Please provide any feedback or answers that will be helpful. Thank you.
Q: How do I start the quest to obtain my Zodiac Weapon?
A: You must equip a Zenith Relic Weapon (Upgraded Relic Weapon) and visit Gerolt in North Shroud (30, 20). Obtain the quest "Up in Arms". You will be sent to Jalzahn who will explain the requirements for upgrading your weapon.
Q: I don't have a follow up quest, is this normal?
A: Yes, unfortunately there is no way to track your current progress other then referring to your notes and the specific Atma you have obtained. You do however have the option of looking at your Journal > Completed Quests > Side Story Quests > Up In Arms and finding the whole list of Items you need to obtain and from what zone.
Q: One of the zones is listed twice for 2 separate items, and it also says Central La Noscea, however there is no such place, what do I do?
A: The translation seems to be a little off, so people have taken the time to revise the list. Here you go:
La Noscea:
- Middle La Noscea - Atma of the Ram
- Lower La Noscea - Atma of the Fish
- Western La Noscea - Atma of the Crab
- Upper La Noscea - Atma of the Water-Bearer
- Outer La Noscea - Atma of the Lion
Thanalan:
- Central Thanalan - Atma of the Scales
- Western Thanalan - Atma of the Twins
- Eastern Thanalan - Atma of the Bull
- Southern Thanalan - Atma of the the Scorpion
The Black Shroud:
- Central Shroud - Atma of the Maiden
- East Shroud - Atma of the Goat
- North Shroud - Atma of the Archer
Q: Is it one specific fate I'm looking for, or just any fate found in these zones?
A: Any Fate found in these zones will have a chance to drop the Atma you need.
Q: Do I need to have my Zenith Relic Weapon equipped? Also do I have to be on the Job that I originally accepted the quest on?
A: YES, you must have your Zenith Relic Weapon equipped while doing these fates. The exact text comes from a System Message given after you talk to Jalzahn and it states:
System:: By participating in certain FATEs while equipped with a relic weapon zenith, you may obtain an atma crystal.
If you want the full dialogue go here and click on the "Dialogue" tab: http://xivdb.com/?quest/66971/Up-in-Arms
However, it has been confirmed that you DO NOT need to be on the same job that you originally accepted the quest on. For example if you started the quest on a White Mage, you can still obtain Atma by switching to your Bard who also has their Zenith Relic Weapon equipped and obtain the items.
Q: Being a Paladin, do I need to equip both the Zenith Sword and Shield to obtain Atma?
A: No, you only need the Zenith Sword to be equipped in order for Atma to drop. While you can collect all the Atma without the Upgraded Shield, it should be noted that you will not be able to fully complete the quest unless you also have your Zenith Shield (does not need to be equipped just in your inventory/armory bags). So if you skipped out on upgrading the Shield earlier due to a better upgrade, now would be the time to upgrade it.
Q: Does being in a full party help my chances for the Atma to drop, or am I better off solo?
A: Results have varied for everyone. Some have claimed to get some of their atmas within the first 10 minutes of fate grinding regardless if they were grouped or not, while others have spent several hours in and out of groups with no luck. Unless a developer says otherwise, I'm going to guess that it does not increase your chances, but does make it easier to clear a FATE.
Q: Will having my Chocobo out affect the drop-rate in anyway, in or out of a party?
A: No, many have attested (myself included) that the Chocobo has no influence on drop rate, whether or not he is with you in a party or solo. You can still rub him/her for good luck though.
Q: How do I know when I've gotten the item, and where does it go?
A: A separate window will pop up letting you know when you've obtained the Atma, looks similar to the Party Invite pop-up. These items will go in your inventory, NOT your key item inventory, so make sure you have space.
Q: If my inventory is full, and I receive an Atma, will I lose it?
A: Yes, it is very important you keep your inventory clean while doing the fates, as items from the fate enemies can clog up your inventory.
Q: Can I receive multiples of the same type of Atma? Such as getting 2 or 3 Atma of the Maiden?
A: Yes you can, they are not Unique items, but they also do not stack. You can farm as much as you want in preparation for another weapon you wish to upgrade (given enough bag space of course).
Q: Do I need a Gold Rating, or will Silver and Bronze Ratings give me the Atma as well?
A:
Q: Do I need to actually complete/win the fate, or will a "Failed" fate give me Atma as well?
A: Unconfirmed at this time.
Q: Do you actually need to stay for the entire fate, or just enough to claim gold credit?
A:
Q: What about fates that are required for Daily Quests, can I still obtain Atma from those?
A: Yes, this has been confirmed.
Q: I finally got all my Atma, where do I go next?
A: Re-visit Jalzahn in North Shroud. The old man who was bothering Gerolt.
Q: I have multiple classes with Zenith Weapons, will I have to be on the job that started the original quest, or can I choose which one to upgrade? i.e. If I started the quest on White Mage, but want to upgrade my Bard Zenith Weapon instead, can I do it?
A:
Q: After obtaining the Atma Weapon, can you still switch to another job with a Zenith Weapon and collect Atma?
A: Yes.
Q: The only thing that changed was the colors of the weapon, the stats did not, how do I upgrade the stats?
A: You must obtain the Trials of the Braves books sold by G'jusana in Mor Dhona for 1500 Mythology Tomes per book.
Q: It's not letting me purchase the books?
A: Equip your Atma Relic Weapon.
Q: I see 4 Categories of books, and each one shows 0 out of 1/2/3, what exactly are these?
Each of the 4 Categories is directly related to the Main and Secondary Stats of your weapon: Str, Vit, Skill Speed, Determination, etc. These stats will coincide with the original stats of your weapon. Each book will typically add +2 to that particular stat. There is no category that will increase your Weapon Damage, this will be upgraded once you complete all of the books and upgrade to the Animus Weapon.
Currently there is no way to add new stats to your weapon, such as giving your weapon Determination when it did not originally come with that stat. However, the developers have said we will be able to customize it in a later patch, but what we will be able to customize, and how we will do this, has yet to be determined.
There are 9 books in total you must complete before you can upgrade to the Animus Weapon. Each book will cost you 1500 Mythology, for a grand total of 13.5K Mythology for all 9. The book will reside in your Key Item Inventory and when you click on "Use" the book will open up a new window that will show 4 Categories you must be complete to finish the book.
The Categories are as follows:Upon completion of a book, return back to Mor Dhona and speak with G'jusana again. She will toss the book in the fire for you and you can buy another book to start the process over again until you complete all 9. Once all 9 are completed return to Jalzahn in North Shroud (where you got the original quest).
- Enemies - 10 different enemies you must kill 10 times while equipped with your Atma Relic Weapon.
- Dungeons - 3 Dungeons varying in difficulty. Make sure you are alive at the end of the dungeon to receive credit.
- Fates - 3 Separate Fates, each one in a different zone.
- Leves - 3 Leves that can be either Grand Company or Local Town based Leves, make sure to check both.
Q: Do I need to have my Atma Relic Weapon equipped while completing these books? Or can I change jobs and complete the entries in the books for credit?
A: Yes, much like the previous quest that required you to have your Zenith Weapon equipped to collect Atma, this is no different. You must have your Atma Relic Weapon equipped while completing each trial in the book.
For the Dungeons you can wait until the last boss to equip your weapon, however if you are forgetful (like myself) you may just want to keep the weapon equipped the entire time.
Q: Is there an easier way to access my book without going through the Key Item Inventory?
A:
Q: I can't get the leves I need to pop up for my book, and it seems like the fates also don't like to spawn, any help?
A: Note: Also be sure to check all 3 Grand Company Leves (there's 3 tabs at the top). The Leve listed in the book will not necessarily be the one tied to your current Grand Company, so keep that in mind when looking at the Leves.
Q: Do I need Gold Rating for the FATEs listed in the books?
A:
Q: Can I buy 2 books when I obtain the necessary Myth so I can kill two birds with one stone?
A: No, you can only ever be working on one book at a time.
Q: Can I use the books to upgrade any stats that I want? Maybe get 9 total upgrades for my main stat?
A: Unfortunately No. Each book will give 1 specific stat upgrade, such as increasing your main stat, vit, det, etc. However each stat may be upgraded up to 1, 2 or 3 times (varies depending on weapon and stat). You are unable to customize your stats at this time, but it was said by the developers that an option to customize your stats will be released at a later date/patch. What you will be able to customize and how much is anyone's guess.
Q: I just finished one of the books, but its still in my key items, should I get rid of it?
A:
Q: So I finally finished every single book, whats next?
A:
If there are more questions people can think of, or if you have answers to the previous questions that are unconfirmed please do so. I will update it as needed.
