So, how about an RMT server?

Recently I read that Titanfall doesn't ban cheaters, but move them all in the same server, which is indeed an interesting idea.

Now in FFXIV, SE has only been banning hacking bots and ad spammers. They have not focused on banning gilbuyers or normal players with farming scripts. As SE has no problem identifying RMT bots, then tracing those bots' gil movements to identify gilbuyers should be a piece of cake. However, they have not done so, probably because they need the subscription fees.

That's where an RMT server comes in! Forcibly move all gilbuyers and script farmers to the same server, where they can buy gil to their heart's content and continue playing the full game. It's a win-win situation for them, honest players, and SE's wallet!

Because no gil buying player would play on that server. People buy gil to have an advantage over others that don't, if everyone is buying gil, then it would become a matter of whose pockets are deeper and eventually even the most hardcore gil buyers will also leave the server.

They won't be allowed to transfer out, obviously. If they leave, they lose everything and will have to start over. And yes, it will be hard for those with shallower pocket. Some will choose to quit, and they won't be missed.

The thing is that if I am a gil buyer, I won't even consider playing on that server in the first place. Imagine if there's a cash shop that sells all the best gear, I'm going to assume that everyone on that server will be buying the best gear. You still don't have an advantage over anyone else, but I am paying double/triple the subscription fee compared to a normal server. Why not just play a normal subscription then?

Also, it gives the game a very bad reputation as many p2p players will be uncertain if the game is heading towards a p2w direction and will probably leave the game. (p2w being synonymous with RMT)

Because they will have to start over and lose all their level 50s and gil. Gilbuying can get you items, but it can't get you progress and time spent.

Might as well just ban them, i think they'd rather quit the game than play in this RMT server.
Yes that would be a great idea for honest players. But not for SE. They will probably have to shut down a few servers and tighten their own belts after banning them all.

So if we go there, they won't? *Le gasp*

Well, win for honest players but probably a loss for gil buyers. I can only imagine their currency would rapidly devalue with everyone farm-botting and gil-buying, and their server economy would become something like that of the Weimar Republic...

Gilsellers wouldn't even stay there, they don't care if they lose what's on the account since it wasn't even theirs to begin with. They'll just move onto another stolen account that's not stuck on the RMT server.

I'm talking about gilbuyers here. Gilsellers will, in fact, flock to such a server.
