But we can see already the ileves during examine. It is written in the item-infos
With the addition of glamors I can no longer trust the gear I see on a character. Sure, I can select each member an examine each piece of gear to get a gist of his/her iLevel, or they can just put the iLv number on the examine screen directly. As long as we have battles and systems in the game that limit the iLv for instances then we should be allowed to know that number at a glance quickly.

Yeah.. at least with the current setup people liable to discriminate against others on account of their kit (despite meeting the minimum S-E already set) instead of just rising to the challenge, have to take a little extra effort before they can start making 'recommendations' (which you really must be naive if you think will amount to more than 'sod off' in the majority of cases). Be it looking at their gear and either doing the maths or making an educated guess, or, y'know, asking.
What we have now is as nice a balance as we're ever going to get with a system that relies on Item Levels at all. I'm certainly against adding some sort of average to the Examine window; and that's not even getting into the inappropriate weighting for many items compared to their actual level of impact or lack thereof.

It already is in the game. You do it like this:
/tell <t> hey bro. what's your ilvl?

Indeed, although that isn't even necesarry.
As other people say, iLevel only sais so much, I can clad my monk in healer accessoires and still be iLevel 90.
I'd rather just check what people are actually wearing, which is a feature already in the game thankfully.![]()

Why? You already get more information then ilvl by doing an examine. Just like someone with i90 on the left side and i70 on the right is not the same as someone with all i90 accesories/i70 primary equipment. Next up let's just put everyones ilvl on the party list right next to their HP so I can kick whoever is the lowest.
This is so true! In his example both players would have the same ilvl but one would pump out way more DPS than the other making ilvl nothing but a number. Why? Maybe we can have a setting:
(x) Display my iLevel (DPS/HPS)
And then we can filter to only allow people who display their ilevel to join the party? Provided their iLevel is of the right level of course.
This way party leaders can create parties where only those who display and are of suitable iLevel join.
And people who are not interested in iLevel can easily avoid those parties.
This of course has the nice side-effect that it makes it an easy way for people to choose what kind of people they want to party with (those who care about numbers and those who do not).

Or, you know, you could set some ridiculous iLvl requirement in party finder. Thinking i85 would be a good starting point for T1.Maybe we can have a setting:
