Issue has been resolved, was about where the mandatory pet hotbar went, but that's taken care of. We'll just turn this into a thread about more efficiently using Pet Classes I guess.

Apparently if you use controller you can change this back.
I can't fathom using controller on smn though
Smn with controller is really really easy, not that hard at all
I use R2+L2=Commands (stay, obey, place, etc.) and L2+R2=Pet abilities (contagion, shockwave, aerial slash) By doing this I never have to actually tab out of my main hotbar even while giving commands.

While translation is a large part of our job, what is not known by many is that the EN localization team plays a large role in the creation of a lot of in-game terminology and lore which is then localized back into Japanese (with liberties often taken by the Japanese team so that the text might appear more appealing to their target Japanese audience).
^ Listen to him! This is THE way to play Summoner and Scholar. L2R2 + R2L2 are musts for pet jobs.
I play on PS3 as well and I have actually just picked up ACN/SMN myself. (One day before 2.2 dropped.) And I must admit it has been very awkward so far. My main is a DRG and I've also been used to just cycling through my hotbars with R1. The problem I'm having is that when I summon my pet, the pet bar automatically pops up in my second hotbar and I can only cycle through that and my first hotbar and not past it to my 3rd and so on. Does anyone have any tips of changing this around to something like I'm used to or do I just have to grin and bear it? And if so do you have any tips in that case? Thanks a bunch!
@Jayce
It does take some getting used to, but it's probably the most effective way to use the class if you're on the PS3, it makes transitions very simple and once you pick up the muscle memory for your rotations and abilities, you'll love using it. If you want to get rid of that manual hotbar, go here:
Character Configuration > UI Settings > Then find the Pet Hotbar option in one of the tabs and either enable, to have it be up, or disable, to get rid of it. With it gone, you can tab between everything like you normally would depending on how many actions you have in your hot-bars.
