Lightning Event - Returning Player

Good day all

Thanks for taking the time to read my question, I am a returning player who has been out for a few months on active duty with the British Army.

Unfortunately it appears as though I've missed the subject event and I've got a couple of questions about it.

1, Is the event planned to return at any stage?
2, If not, is it possible to buy/earn the rewards (specifically the hairstyles)

The Lightning hairstyle is (although insanely popular) a fantastic cosmetic option and it feels a shame to miss out on it due to reasons outside of my control.

The outfits, the weapons are no longer available (not sure if u can get them from market board tho, haven't check). However, it seems the hairstyle will be here forever and ever and ever, so you can get them after doing that hairstyle quest thing.

Thanks for the response, I have done the level 15 quest to gain access to the Barber, but the hairstyle doesn't appear.

I believe the hairstyle option is tied to completion of the first quest in the Lightning storyline, so you won't be able to get it now.

Ah thanks for the information, that's a real shame, I am one of the few who actually liked her and bought all the games..

I hope they open up for the option for everyone to have it at some stage.

Sadly, as has been said it appears the Lightning event will not be returning, as it was actually just cross-marketing for the release of Lightning Returns - it's the reason it was held twice, the first time for the Japanese launch of LR-XIII, the second time for the US/European launch. Of course there's nothing stopping SE bringing it back at a later date, but I don't they will sadly.

It's pretty disappointing that both myself and all the new players joining with the PS4 version don't have as many customisation options (especially when there's so few good haircuts as it is)

Hopefully they'll reconsider.

It was a pretty popular event, so I'm hoping they'll decide to run it again, even without a new release to time it with. They've done a couple much smaller events with tie-ins to Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy XI so they aren't entirely limiting tie-in events to when new titles are launching. Maybe Lightning can return yet again if enough people want her to. At least, that's what I'm hoping. We haven't heard anything from SE about it, though.

The Dragon Quest and FFXI events though were held for other reasons - they were crossover events to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of FFXI's start of service, and the first anniversary of DQX's start of service (both those games had FFXI and FFXIV crossover events too incidentally). Still, it's possible SE may bring them back (along with the FFXIII event), but it's still very unlikely either way sadly.

But anniversaries come around each year, and this shows they consider anniversaries worth putting in events for. They could recycle the release event for FFXIII:LR into an anniversary event. Next November/December would be the first anniversary of FFXIII:LR and the fifth anniversary of the original FFXIII. That could provide enough of an excuse if they want to put it back in. So it sort of comes down to is it popular enough that they'll want to bring it back.
