You misread what I wrote. Ranger will have, or should have, damage dealing job skills. What do songs do? They don't deal damage, they are support. So by that logic, Ranger would do more damage than Bard because they'd play exactly the same.Tsk tsk... I'm sorry you haven't played with any good bards. No damage?!? In movement intensive fights such as primals, no other dps can hope to keep up with a good bard. It's the only job that when done correctly, can keep putting out damage while running from plumes, landslide, bombs, etc.

I see what you mean but first, 1/3 of bards song set decreases magical resistance, encreasing the dps of any casters, 2nd, you couldn't really create a class that does more dps than bard without it being OP as bard is already the best dps in many situations.

...but that's what other people in the thread are suggesting about Ranger.
ARC => BRD (DPS) // RNG (DPS)

Ranger would probably have similar attacks, but also use magic.
What ever they do when they add new jobs they better make the main class the new class so there arent insta 50s running around. If ranger does come I would like to have more dots and/or elemental arrows. But not done so expensively like in 11.

Now, yes they can change their mind, but I do think that people will try to hold Yoshi P and SE accountable to this statement. I think he brought up a good point about people already having a bunch of 50s. There are plenty of people in my FC that already have every class to 50.
For all we know ranger could be the base class which could lead to musketeer.
Fyi, ninja=assassin...and clearly it's a ninja, where did the idea of theft come from? O_o;
Just don't know where SE is gonna put the role, dps or tank.
Why? Cuz' in ffxi, although ninja is a dps, but players were able to use it as a tank, which means there's potential in the skill sets. (utsusemi ftw)
At is end it really depends on how SE gonna define Ninja.
I personally would like to see the following, if possible.
Ninja, tank
Samurai, close dps
musketeer, range dps
