Apparently you can work on things in tandem, to a point. When it comes time to get to the book portion of the quest you will only be able to work on one book at a time, but since they cost 1500 myth a pop, you will only be buying them one at a time anyway. You can collect as many atma as you want and trade in multiple Zenith weapons.
