Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4ghz)
Nvidia GTS 250 (drivers up to date: 275.33)
4gb DDR2 memory
2 7200rpm HDDs (1tb and 500gb)
Steps:
1. Have a computer with two monitors. One graphics card (Nvidia GTS 250 in this case)
2. Move mouse off screen (In my case, usually by accident.)2a. Clicking off screen triggers an IMMEDIATE crash.2b. Mouse remaining off window eventually triggers a crash after a delay.3. Game Crashes.
4. Reports an error in a pop up dialogue. The error reported is "Unable to detect DirectX device. The program has shut down. Please restart FINAL FANTASY XIV"Additional Info: Removing second monitor is not a reasonable request/will not be happening. Multi-monitor support is a standard feature of modern graphics cards.
Forces caution around any of the screen edges adjacent to another monitor.
Running at 1920x1080 (native monitor resolution) causes the game to overlap to the next monitor, causing a severe drop in performance due to how primary/secondary monitor relationships are handled by some Nvidia cards
Due to above, forced to use the next possible resolution of 1680x1050; smaller than I would like, leaves gaps on left and right.
Performance issues due to being windowed. Where as normally I could run most settings set to high or highest with no noticeable drop in framerate; when windowed the frame rate stutters unless everything is set to standard or lower.
(Previous moved post re-formated to satisfy forum requirements with express intent of drawing attention to this bug. This post is fully intended as a bug report and is not a suggestion intended for community discussion as a general forum thread. This post is in regards to a severe show stopping bug with possible ramifications beyond the inconvenience of a crash to desktop; i.e. SE officially states improper shutdown of a game can result in damage to data.)
Note regarding 3rd party applications: 3rd Party solutions for simulation of Full Screen mode does NOT CONSTITUTE a replacement for full screen mode. The game continues to be recognized as a windowed application and is not treated with the same priority as an application running in Full Screen mode. A 1st party solution is required to solve this issue and should not be left to a possibly untrustworthy 3rd party. (Apologies to trust worthy 3rd parties)
