[DEV] Will SE do another overall survey of the whole player base?

I honestly believe that SE needs to do a full player survey that is put up on the opening screen so everyone can see it, and then left up for a few weeks to get an honest overview of how people feel about subjects such as:



Would you want F2P
Do you feel the game is too hard?
Would you want a cash shop?

My reasoning behind this is due to an overall reaction that I get from people, especially the ones who do not feel comfortable coming to the forums here. Also I feel by having a survey SE would get a better overall view of how people feel about the current game, and the direction you are thinking of taking it.

As I said above, not everyone comes to the forums. It seems like a lot of the people I know who do enjoy the game; the difficulty, etc… have no reason to come to the forums because they are busy playing. I have also heard a lot of people say they do not come to the forums, or do not feel comfortable coming to the forums, due to several reasons such as: drama, being attacked for their opinion or comments, being trolled etc.

SE has done it before when that asked what races we would like to see if more were added, what we did with our time, what race we players etc… So why can’t SE do it to get an honest and more balanced look at how players truly feel about the game, it’s direction, and possible game changing ideas such as F2P and cash shops?

I have seen a lot of people’s logical posts and good ideas get washed away on the forums. This is a way SE can get an accurate idea of how people feel and I truly believe it is something SE needs to do. Yes it would take a bit of effort, but I feel the information gathered would help SE a lot with the direction the game is going.

Edit: What survey questions would you like to see??

• How do you feel about the difficulty of content within the game?
• Would you support the game going Free-to-Play?
• Would you support a cash shop?
• How do you feel about diversity of content available?
• What kind of player do you consider yourself?

Just examples.

"Do you want see more content for 16/24 men raids"?

• Do you prefer a faster pace in the game or a slower one?
• Are the rewards satisfying enough?

1) would you like to see 16-man content introduced? (yes!)

2) would you like to see harder 24-man content introduced? (yes!)

3) would you like to see: a) card game, b) blitzball, or c) classic turn-based jrpg minion dueling? (yes, yes, yes!)

• What kind of guild would you like the most to see implemented?

Just some other questions I thought up:

Would players like crafting to have more of an endgame presence?
Will Musketeer be coming out on or before the next expansion release?

and while this isn't a real 'poll question' I would like to know:

Will SE ever put out a stat reset scroll for chocobo's for those who accidentally put stats in multi-classes before realizing they could only specialize in one?

Unfortunately, if they are hell bent on going F2P, they most certainly won't make a survey about it.

If the game does go F2P, what you'll probably get is an apology of sorts and blah blah blah gibberish about how its for the best of the game.

I couldn't agree more, and the majority of peeps on the forums seem to be trolls and attack anything they may not agree with. Good to see opinions are respected, whatever they may be. Fully agree though, it would help.

Surveys sounds really awesome, would be nice to see them come around. Maybe have a link for it at the login? Well said about forum usage btw, its a small % of players who come to them and are bothered to voice opinions. Which is important also ofc...

FFXIV:ARR hasn't even been released for a year and there's already talk of making it more like the predecessor that saw its rise and gradual fall several years ago? A game that also took a few years to reach its prime? No I don't like that.
I love A Realm Reborn as it is, the variety in content that is available. There's challenging content in the form of Coil or Extreme Primals and there's easier content available too, should I not feel like getting crushed by the Weight of the Land.

i think a new survey would be great, considering how long its been since they did the last player poll.
if they did a new one, i think it would benefit from being about more than just f2p questions tho.
i think a good way to put it into effect would be similar to the way en masse handles the surveys in tera when it has them, make it an ingame pop up.

Because when you take an entire population the trolls are really only a small part. You can get trolls but at most a few thousand out of over 500k doesn't mean for much. Just because this forums is mostly trolls, doesn't mean that's how the game is. Most are actually busy playing.

If they did do another survey I would place it also ingame were they can reach more ppl because for most part they don't even come here.
