Nah, better to put your energy into the following trials.Just got my Sphairai Atma, can I start bragging about how I'm a proMLG player and above everyone else because luck = skill and this is exactly the type of elite content the game needs because I have a thing that the majority won't have for a while thus I can feel super special and show everyone online how good I am at videogames yet?
Felis catus
I've been grinding for maybe around 8 hours and have yet to see an Atma drop. Can I complain now?
no you cant, your not allowed to complain before 3 days of farming, they need you to stay loged in till the next patch comes.
but for what?
its hard to get groups now for anything, every time i ask for EX/dungeon my friends tell me they doing atma.
i wish people stop farming this BS and play the game, your paying 15$ a month to farm atma? come on.
Ok Yoshida, you had your fun.
Now its time to tell that this really bad FATE/atma grinding thing for the relic was just an april fools joke.

4 hours to the April 2nd in Japan, waiting for a Letter too, but I don't realy think we'll see it. Anyway, i'm still farming in Western Thanalan, like the 4 past days.
Due to this quest, I haven't see Levi X & Moogle X, all of my FC are farming like hell to get a weapon with same stats than their Relic Zenith.
This really just isn't any fun.

yeah as long its fun i dont mind extensive grinds , but atmas is by far the worst type of content i played in FFXIV , worse than fate grinding to level 50 because there i saw a XP bar movin while doing it , lol even manually crafting the same item over and over again is more fun than atmas because i see a xp bar moving![]()

A response/idea of mine regarding this from another thread that I felt should reposted here in the "consolidated" thread.
How I could see it being done is as a hunting log. The bottom tiers are weaker mobs but you have to kill a lot of them and as the tiers go up, the number you have to kill decreases but their lvl/strength/difficulty increases. You could even have dungeon mobs and bosses and primals on the list so that makes players go into that content.
I feel that this would be a much better solution for many reasons.
First it would provide measurable progression for the players.
Second it would provide more equal progression for the players so that same amount of work reaps equal reward.
Third it could provide more variety of content to go through to complete; open world, fates, trials, dungeons. All content could be utilized.
Lastly it could be much more easily tweaked and balanced from a development side. Not taking long enough for players to complete, increase the number of each mob type that needs to be killed , taking too long then decrease them.
So in conclusion, I feel something like this would be a much better way of completing the atma quest than the current implementation.

I'm going to chime in again and stress something that I feel isn't getting enough attention. How in the world is this helping me to become a better anything? I want to atma my WHM relic first, but I've been farming on my SMN (both are zenithed) to get more DPS.
To get the relic to begin with you HAD to have it equipped or be on the job you wanted to get it for. I feel like this FATE grind has cheapened everything we did (which isn't anywhere near what the 1.0 players went through, I know) to get the relic to begin with. And making it so that you have to be on the job you are looking for the atma for while doing FATEs doesn't solve the problem of making a person learn their job to some extent. There is no need to know how to play a job when all a FATE is, is a zerg the mobs down fest. I want something that I have to earn by playing my job.
Heck, you have made a mount harder to get then a relic upgrade. Tank 200 full party high level content (so much coil and primals), why can't we have something like that? Something like; heal 24 high level full group content get 1 atma and so on every 24 completed runs as the job until you have run 288 of them and earned all of your atmas for the weapon. Rinse and repeat for your other jobs. I want this to mean something. I want to earn this and know that I got it on skill rather than I got lucky with the RNG.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how the Atma grind is really any different from the "kill x number of mobs" style quests. In fact, it's exactly like that quest, but some people have to kill less mobs, and some people have to kill more, and you have no idea which group you fall into until after you've been at it for hours.
RNG doesn't go hand in hand with RPG either. Maybe it goes hand in hand with "MMO".. but single player RPGs I've played usually have very little RNG involved (unless of course you're talking about trash items like potions and such), with the higher level weapons and armor dropped or placed in very specific locations. Even the lower level stuff isn't handed out RNG style. I would also say that while RNG goes hand in hand with previous MMOs, it doesn't go hand in hand with every aspect of an MMO, especially when the chance at an item is so horrendously low. Modern MMOs all seem to be moving away from RNG instead (even FFXIV was until patch 2.2), and rightly so. RNG doesn't really reward work or skill, it rewards luck.
