So True.
The whole ATMA grind is painfully SLOW. 4 hours of grinding FATEs in ONE region and still no drop!!! The drop rates need to be increase, now. If this does not change SE will lose many paying subscribers.
What I wish I could do when
I get an RMT message:

The fate grindings are pointless and it causes a lot of people quitting the weapon quest because we spent so much times but didn't receive any rewards. I rather SE told us to do all the fates in each region in 12 hours or do 1200 fates than just UNLIMITED FATE without knowing when it will drop. A lot of the times, I went in with my friends for fate grinding then my friend came in the same time - did one fate and he got it. I sat there for 4 hours and didn't get anything. My friends and I couldn't even play or do anything together because of this. Give us a number or something. Also fate should be for people who need to level. Seriously after doing this, I don't think I want to do ATMA for my other classes and alt. The whole weekend is fate grinding and only 2 drops. This is nonsense
When summoners come together, everything melts like butter in the sun.

I'd be ok with fates, if the zones all had higher level fates, and some of the zones are just crappy (M. La Noscea, Upper La Noscea, W. Thanalan) due to how long they are, stuff like this just prolongs a potentially longer rng grind. Would of been nice to have fates in n. thanalan, or some place with higher level fates. Western La Noscea for example I thought was a really easy atma, since you could just chill in the spawning grounds, lots of fates pop, and in no time you have lots of gc seals and an atma. Even if it takes hours, it nice to not be running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to reach a fate.
If you’re a casual player (have 2 hours to play a day) this quest is not for you and if you cant get a static for coil then forget about i100-115 weapons.
Already some of my friends decided to quit, and a lot are talking about the same thing.
It seems like the hardcore players convinced SE that this game should be harder.

It's really silly how a vocal minority of people always find some way to defend questionable decisions like this or blame the people who wanted longer lasting open world content or just go for the typical "if you don't like it just don't do it, keep calm and just stop saying mean things and be quiet about it". When people asked for open world content they asked for FATEs that dropped some sort of gear even if it was just aetherial or crafting mats, they asked for more leve type content with more interesting mechanics or mini storylines for bigger groups of people, they asked for enemies that weren't just trash and had a bigger pool of moves, they didn't ask for a mindless FATE grind without any certainty of progress and all.
It's like a really big misunderstanding of all the posts asking for NMs and open world content in general done on purpose, like someone saying "oh you wanted open world stuff like old school MMOs? Well here's how bad it can get so be careful what you wish for, maybe now you'll appreciate the modern casual global MMO standards". It's misunderstanding what people liked about NMs, people liked them because most of the mobs themselves had some interesting moves and were harder and more involved than average mobs, not because of the low drop percentage RNG grind attached to them. although yeah they also liked them for the drops themselves.
It's true, this is similar to the Hamlet grind, I was really looking to the actual relic quest that was behind that RNG seal barrier just like I'm looking forward to the actual Braves quest after getting all 12 atmas. The key difference is at least Hamlet had a way to affect or even bypass the RNG and rewarded you depending on how much effort and time you put into it, if you put in enough effort to supply a Hamlet you had a sure chance at seals, plus you also had a chance to get a couple of gear pieces that ranged from good to decent to bad, and even the bad pieces somehow turned into decentish pieces at least for the very beginning of ARR. I never put in the effort to supply the Hamlet therefore I was at the mercy of the RNG by itself and eventually just stopped because I was also leveling other classes and doing other stuff on top of knowing ARR would just make it a lot easier though I still kinda wish I could have done the original more involved relic quest. Arguably the RNG heavy part of the old relic quest was the melds, but even then you could also alleviate that by putting the effort to spiritbond the materia yourself or just saving up millions for buying the melded relic. Plus the actual Hamlet itself did have some unique mechanics that brought all Disciples together, content of that type that is sadly not planned for ARR either.
This FATE grind is just pure RNG at its finest, it doesn't reward effort, it just rewards luck and that's just bad design. Though arguably it's superbly designed for keeping people doing mindless stuff and keeping them occupied I guess, so good job for that.

Has a FULL party had more than one player get an Atma off the same FATE?? Very interested in this.

Yeah I was in a party where multiple people got the drop. We worked hard to get those Atma's. And a lot of the stuff that people were asking about that would be nice to upgrade the relics is actually after the Atma part, like complete these three dungeons, fight these mobs and kill them 10 times, do these 3 particular fates. Hang in there guys, and you'll get it!!! You can do it!!!! Me and another friend got our Atma's Friday. He got his before I got mines.

one of my FC was excited about the new relic upgrade, when the patch went live he didnt do anything other than trying to get ATMA, for 6 hours in a low level zone he didnt get any.
what did he do?
he quit the game, and looking for a new game to play now.
my other friend did the same, and all i can see now in game or on forums that people hate FATE and dont want to do anything with them.
why SE force people to do fate is strange to me.
people wont just stay in the game and grind more and stay subbed, they will just leave and look for another game to have fun in.
My friend aleready Got atma relic. I grinded more and have only 4 atmas.
This is not fun but just frustration, envy, i feel like square enix is making fun of me
