what era is that? 10 years back? game community change as year changes.. back then ppl take content slow with dedication.. now there is so much game around ppl want time for value... there is no longer 2 games to pick but 200 games to pick.

hated and loved it lol. The Atma "grind" was over in less than 3-4h's and now to the books which are a joke aswell. Only Myth farming takes time rest is just extremely easy. People cried they wanted something like XI and they got it and now cry that it is like XI lol <3.
To be fair, its probably a different group of people complaining about Atma. The reason I played 2.0-2.1 was because it was so casual friendly. I rarely posted on the forums prior to 2.2, because I enjoyed the game much much more than I do right now. I really liked how little grind was required and that was the aspect of the game that I used to recommend it to friends and coworkers.
The reason this is such a big and polarizing issue, is that with the game's relaunch, they made a strong appeal to the more casual players like myself, then pulled out the rug from under us with a brick wall of transparent and boring grind at every turn.
Atma has been the tipping point for me, after which more and more of the 2.2 things are starting to turn me off of the game entirely.

I don't mind a heavy and long term grind for something like this, IF the game meets the following conditions:
1. The game is designed for me to focus on just one single class at a time, long term.
2. The ultimate reward for this long and involved quest is beyond any shadow of a doubt a must have item. The best weapon available to me, with nothing comparable.
3. This type of long involved grindy gameplay is the norm for the game.
FFXIV fails on all of those points. On point #1, this game is designed for people to level multiple classes and be able to swap between them at 50 as needed. This is what the devs expect us to do. I personally have 6 relics, and I will be getting a 7th very soon. Making this relic upgrade quest this long and frustrating just for a single weapon is unreasonable for this mutli-class game. On point #2, There are way too many similarly good weapons available from other sources, and there isn't that great of a difference in stats. Finally on point #3, 99.9% of this game so far has been quick, easy and casual friendly rewards. They can't just shoe-horn a mega grind into a casual game like this one.
To be more specific, here is what I need this weapon to be, based on the current game. After finishing the Atma portion of the quest, it's a i100 weapon. An actual i100 weapon. After completing all 9 books, it's an i120 weapon. The next best weapon in the game (Turn 9 drop?) is i105. This is where weapons need to be for me to say "yea, I NEED to do this grind and get this weapon".

Player
So SE decided not to do anything about this, not even "working as intended BS".
Take it or leave it.

i think its kinda official.. no 1 bother about it any more.. ppl who got it moved on to animus.. ppl who don't either quit the game or move on to other weapon source.. i am in western la noscea doing the fate.. and i hardly see more than 2 doing them.. at max was 5 of us trying to down a boss fate..

That's pretty much where I am at. I got all my Atmas without too much trouble, but playing semi casually it has taken me 3-4 weeks to save up the Myths to buy just one book. I am not even planning to do any more after this. I am going to complete this one book, as well as a few other short term goals and just quit the game. I am not quitting just because of the weapon quest, but it is one of the big factors. The devs have really alienated me at this point.i think its kinda official.. no 1 bother about it any more.. ppl who got it moved on to animus.. ppl who don't either quit the game or move on to other weapon source.. i am in western la noscea doing the fate.. and i hardly see more than 2 doing them.. at max was 5 of us trying to down a boss fate..
I can't keep playing this game if this is how it's going to be. I can't trust these devs to do a good job anymore. The 2.0 and 2.1 end-games weren't great, but they were workable. I thought we would finally see some real improvements with this patch but the 2.2 endgame is by far the worst yet. It's not fun at all. I feel like I am spinning my wheels trying to advance and barely getting anywhere. And because of the choices the devs made, I am finding other players are becoming more obnoxious and elitist every week. Even just clearing my duty roulettes each day is turning into a trial of my patients.

Another week, no response. No "working as intended".

Apparently 2000 posts and nearly 300k thread views on one subject is not enough to garner a response.
