Is Crafting really worth it?

I spent the first 6.5 months and about 10 million Gil getting all my Crafting levels to 50 and my gear maxed out. With Patch 2.2 I feel like it has been a total waste of time and effort. My current gear is now outdated and it will take me many more months just to farm the seals required to purchase Mats for my Master Logs because of the obscene prices for the Mats needed to create items for the logs. Only after I do this will I be able to start the process of making max gear to create the new items. By the time I am half way through that my work will probably be outdated again

With all the time consuming aspect introduced in this patch I must make a choice between developing my DoW/DoM jobs or my crafting/gathering jobs. There is just not enough time available, even for a retired old foggy like me, to do both. Therefore I am done crafting. Thanks SE for destroying a perfectly good crafting system.

On the flip side, they actually made crafting useful again for money making this patch. If you're having trouble with time management, why not pick one or two crafts, and try to focus on those?

Are you complaining about having something to do? I don't understand would you rather them give you it?

Don't treat it like a job, treat it like a game. You are supposed to enjoy it. SE is giving out content AND options, you don't have to do it all and be swamped. If you treat it like a job well, it's not really a game anymore.

As Gethyn said, focus on one or two and play in a relaxed manner.
