Didn't want to necro this thread, but you just made my day with this. Had issues even accessing the files inside that folder, and after scrapping everything but my user folder and redoing the configuration for the game, everything is right again. I've been annoyed by this problem for weeks now right after a format, so I can't thank you enough for the tip.
