Everything is as low as it can go unfortunately. Hope it won't hurt my laptop, or I might have to call it quits for a while.
definately.. that is the base layer for the fire aoe, very clear in this pic.. i'd still submit it to bug report but i do think its a GFX problem..
as for stress on your laptop.. unless its a dedicated gaming laptop the game will cause alot of stress anyway.. i set FFXIV up on my laptop just to prove it could do it and just standing in ul'dah made it hot enough to cook an egg on..
a tip i have heard for cooling your laptop down is have it elevated at the back, standing on somthing like a box so there is alot of air circulation underneath and i am assuming so there is a place for the heat to go rather than just hovering around inside cos hot air rises (physics yo) also have you considered a cooling mat? those laptop stands with fans underneath that plug into the USB.. i would suggest getting one that has an angle on it though not a flat one..
again though i aint a laptop expert.. just a few common sense things there which you probably already know

My laptop is already a little elevated but I do put it on a lapdesk to help with circulation. It still gets pretty dang hot though, especially in boss fights and in highly populated areas.
On top of this issue, my FPS is never above 35. SM Titan was a total fail in many ways because I had 1-2 seconds of latency, making escaping AoE in time very hard.
I wish they had ways to reduce character models on-screen and turn off weather effects like FFXI did - that really helped then.
I really want a desktop but money is tight in that regard.
Damn, I would Ctrl+Home your interface so much if I could. I for one wouldn't be able to play with UI elements taking up 80% of my screen.
On topic though, probably an issue with graphic card drivers.
Also, just read through your other posts, it's most likely you don't meet minimum requirements to play.

and yes your latency will come from the GFX and it sucks that they would make a game so heavily reliant on dodging and then make it impossible to dodge for 50% of the sub base due to hardware limitations.. I had latency before i upgraded my GFX card which i thought was my connection, it was indeed the GFX thoughNew options are available in the System Configuration interface.

Probably because it's not very intuitive. I remember on my first day I was like "Why is everything so big?" Then I had to spend half hour Googling just to find a method to resize it, lol.

It won't cause any damage, heat causes entirely different issues like snow, visual artifacts and crashing. The laptop likely doesn't support the method they are using. Best you can do is try other settings/update drivers and bug report it if it still persists.

Wow, I thought I was the only one...
Needless to say, it makes fights like Ultima a bit more challenging. I have yet to find a fix for this, but I did notice it start to happen after a video card driver update, maybe the same is true for you?
Curse this post limit though. >T
Alright, awesome. Totally gonna keep playing for a while then.
Jesus dude, that is terrifying. Any idea what that move ACTUALLY looks like, without all the screwed up AoE?
I didn't know I could. /newb This is much easier, thanks a ton for mentioning it. xD Better?
