Awww. Looks like Atma does indeed transfer into Animus. So its progression so Atma is like the unfinished version and Animus is the completed version. Same iLvL but slightly altered stats.

+6 Vit and Int, +3 Spell Speed, and +2 Det.

Book of Spades and High Allagan outclass the Summoner's Relic by leaps and bounds. =C

I know he said this quest will continue in Patch 2.25 and 2.3, but it almost feels like at this pattern (from 2.0's 1st Coil, and now 2.2's 2nd Coil) that the Coil Weapons will always be ahead of Relics? What's the point of an elaborate "long goal quest" (w/ grind?) if it's always inferior to the Coil Weapon each patch?

Uh, they used to be equal but they buffed allagan weapons in 2.1 why would they go back from that? It makes sense that the most difficult to obtain items are the most powerful.

The 5 extra ilevels are for beating the hardest content currently in the game. Which will be Turn 9 for 2.2

What? So fighting a fairly tough boss with only one member of your party getting a drop isn't a long term goal either?

Unless the mathematician graces us with whatever the 'optimal' path is for progression, until then, the zodiac weapon sounds like the entryway to evening the odds for this battle.

from xivdb quest log,
zenith to atma is done by collecting 12 atma crystals from 12 fates with that weapons, drops are not 100% from the way its worded

For zodiac: weapon is upgraded by completing books that you buy for 1500 myth each, each weapons has 9 but you can complete only 4 for now (curtana has 7 and shield 2 but pld can complete a total of 6)

Eh, I don't care when people get them mixed up. The human brain is a wonderful thing and often corrects mistakes for us. That's why there's the whole bit that goes around where a sentence will have two "the" words next to each other but most people's minds will skim over the second. Since tombstone is an actual word, and tomestone is just something for Final Fantasy XIV, it makes sense that some people would just read it as tombstone. Blows my mind how many people get in such of huff over it
