Not giving any extra money to SE for retainers. In a pay-to-play game this is wrong.

I don't mind this at all actually. Since I'm on the 1 character per realm sub, and have absolutely no desire to level alts or have an alt, I plan on keeping on the 1 character sub for as long as I can. I wouldn't mind paying for a retainer if I would ever need it, though.

I did the math for the additional retainers earlier plus a standard account with the 6 month it added up too $101.94 I am worried what would happen if they continue the plan to add addition retainers because that would just make it more expensive I understand these are optional and that there is barely an advantage to other players but I think its a bad idea because the system dos not belong in a p2p game. I like the game itself just not the direction its going please take a U-Turn Square Enix be like all the other P2P games I know and just allow us all the features for $14.99 and then decrease the amount you pay as you increase the months. Also yes I know that the price I came up with earlier is actually about $17.00 and that is just $2.00 now but if they double it that would be a little more.

Well - it's actually almost $19 per month if you opt for two retainers so it seems to be a bit steep extra fee "only" for additional retairners IMO.

So I can use my alt slots for extra retainers? If so I don't see the problem I'm only going to use the one toon anyway the extra slots are just sitting there doing nothing

I don't like this system and I don't agree with it. While I can understand that having additional retainers causes some strain on the servers (although I question how we can have up to 8 characters total on the same server without any apparent issues), I feel they were way off-base when it came to the pricing. A dollar per month or a one time fee would have been more appropriate. Granted, the value of services rendered compared to their actual cost is completely subjective. Still reeks of a cash-grab scheme.
To those that insist on comparing this system to what is done in XI, please stop. There isn't any comparison. In XI you purchased additional character slots (not simply storage) that had access to any content in the game and didn't have the ridiculous inter-account mailing restrictions on them. They were also half the price of these retainers.

Those same tunes can have 4 retainers aswell right? So in the end it could still be a an advantage in finding stuff quicker and selling more items at a time.
I love selling 80 different items and having my retainers bring me back 120 shards every 50 mins. Of course I'd prefer it if it was free, but I really enjoy that selling power, so I don't mind paying. Market is half the game for me anyways.
I'm also happy to see SE make some extra cash in a non game breaking way. Gil is next to useless in this game anyways. I love having it, but kinda unsure what to do with it. Attaining is more fun than spending I guess....
Don't really se the problem to be honest, if you don't like it , don't buy it. It isn't a lot of extra monthly fee, if you do want it.

$2.00 is a bit steep. Make it $1.00 and I'm totally in.
Also, not sure it does much good in this thread, but a fishing tackle box would be so appreciated.
