Another Thread Asking a Question You've Seen 1,000 Times (Sorry)

Because it for some reason has not been stickied anywhere and digging through these forums is difficult even with the search function (which most of the time doesn't find me what I'm looking for), I have to ask a question that I'm sure has been asked here before but I haven't seen it yet.

So basically... I know that after the patch, the tomes are gunna change. I'm relatively new and I just got level 50 on my first class a couple weeks ago, and I've seen this question asked in my Free Company a lot and I've seen my leader answer it in a way that made me feel like an idiot.

Question : Is there a point to me getting Darklight now?

Answer : No, just save up your tomes of philosophy so they're converted to myth and buy i90 gear with it. And you'll fill the empty slots with dungeon drops in no time. Darklight is a waste of time now.

Why I feel like an idiot : I've spent the past week getting every left side slot filled with Darklight (i bought i70 crafted for the right side).

I am also kind of confused as to what I've heard from other people. That i70 is basically gunna be i90 (idk what this means). I guess what I'm asking is... Was it a waste of time for me to have been getting my Darklight gear? After the conversion, should I still be farming myth until I get the full i90 myth set and then go for soldiery (basically the same way it has been except with different gear)?

I'm just confused about the way gearing is gunna be afterwards, because I'm still very new to how it even has been now. And if there's a thread about this or a page on another website somewhere, I'd appreciate a link to it and then you can politely tell me to stop polluting the forum and then report this thread.

All of your Tomes of Philosophy are going to be converted to Tomes of Mythology (via NPC). In addition, rewards of Tomes of Philosophy are going to become Mythology.
So, Tomes of Mythology are becoming the new basic standard for getting gear and that gear is Item Level 90 (Darklight gear is Item Level 70).

So, did you waste your time? Not necessarily. You can always use that gear for some other class or simply use it for glamour.

Regardless of that, you would have ended up with higher item level gear pretty soon anyway by running higher level dungeons/raids.

In short, don't sweat it. As long as you are having fun, where is the problem?

Your current DL gears are certainly not a waste, they can help you to farm myth, soldiery, CT, and Coil turn 1-4.
If you don't have ANY DL it will be much harder to farm myth tomes even.
That said, you don't need to farm for any more DL gears from now on, you can just start fill the rest and replace the current gear with CT/myth/soldiery gear and get ready to challenge Coil.

The DL gear is not useless, we don't even know what the conversion ratio for philo->myth is either
