Workarounds to your problem not the game's problem. There doesn't need to be a solution because it's not actually an issue.
Granted this is also an issue for players who are both blind and deaf.

>.> I'm just going to say it.
XIV sounds annoying people watching tv? Move the computer into another room. Problem solved.
Seriously? Sounds are too annoying? Turn off all audio except the sound that chimes. You don't need music and ambient noise when you aren't doing anything. If you aren't in front of your machine when the chime goes off that's on you. You really expect them to allow you to be lazier? The players who actually sit there and pay attention get parties, and those who don't miss the invite. Seems pretty fair to me.

Welcome to the internet, you must be new here. It's a wondrous place where people complain about the same stupid crap so often, that the ability to be perfectly nice to each person that brings it up is impossible.
FYI, QoL in a game doesn't relate to the player's laziness outside of the game. If you miss a queue pop because you're to lazy to play the game while waiting on it, then you have no right to complain and suggest/demand that the developer include a system to accommodate your laziness. There are much better/more important things for them to work on besides making sure that the guy that Alt tabbed out of the game doesn't miss a queue. In fact a better system would be to have a feature that slaps a penalty on anyone that misses a queue because they were alt tabbed. Remember, you have 3-23 other people to think about when you queue up, so you missing the queue is more inconvenient to them then it is to you.
And we all think that you're so cool for it. Specifically the concept that asking a company that provides a product that you pay for whether or not it would be possible to improve said product in a way that benefits you as a paying customer being "ridiculous" so cool.I never seem to miss my DF ping when playing DD. Maybe thats because instead of sitting around doing nothing in game and surfer the web, I go do stuff like, idk, My beastmen dailies, farm for materials, and if it's class I'm leveling, I do my hunting log while waiting, and fates. It's only YOUR fault if you miss you DF, and your fault alone. Asking square give you something that will alert you when you're not even paying attention to the game in the first place is just ridiculous(considering you can already do it anyway). Sqaure made this game for you to play, not for you to turn on, and then just look away from while you do other things. I never feel bad for people that miss their DF because they tab'd out to go play OSU, or surf the web.

I have two monitors (technically 1 monitor & 1 HDTV that can be used as a monitor) sitting around, but can't make use of them because I don't have anything to hook them to my PC. *sigh* I'd so love to have a second monitor.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
Your graphics card can't handle multiple displays? Most of them come with multiple ports. Surely you don't mean you just need a cable.

I do need a cable. One of them needs that and a power adapter (when my brother moved out, he took all of the extra power adapters from my old PC). Though don't get me started on my graphics card, much less my PC...

Well at least you just need the cables and not another display. Doing pretty good compared to other people stuck on a single display.
I was only questioning since you seemed to make it sound worse than it was. Dropping less than 50 bucks on some cables would be totally worth it man. Multiple displays are awesome.
The hostility really isn't needed here.
I very much appreciate how Rift flashes the taskbar icon when something happens in the game and you're not tabbed into it - such as entering combat, getting a party invite or a whisper, the dungeon queue popping, etc. It's a very simple thing and quite useful.
