That came off as hostile? Was it the italics? I tend to take more provocation to be truly hostile towards someone. And I did offer solutions to his problem originally to be fair.

Either way, the problem is not that the game isn't telling him something. It's that he's not paying attention.

Like if you were talking to me and I wasn't listening. And you take offense to me not listening but, I tell you to just speak louder. It's not your problem, it's mine.

I don't mean to say the feature wouldn't be nice. But it's not an issue or a problem or a design flaw and shouldn't be treated as such. And no it was not directly described as such, but he said "solution." You don't look for solutions to suggestions. They answer problems. Problems are bad. Perhaps his words should have been chosen better.

Here's an idea: A thread popped up that I don't like? How about I just not respond at all instead of being an ass hat?

Adding an option or some other notification when the game is minimized does not effect me in any way. But really. Is your attention span that short?

I would rather see penalties for people missing the 45 (is it 45? I don't remember because I am always there to hit the button like some people) second 'ready up' window. Miss 3 in a hour or so and 30 min ban from DF.

I just want to quote this in agreement.

It's only YOUR fault if you miss you DF, and your fault alone. Asking square give you something that will alert you when you're not even paying attention to the game in the first place is just ridiculous(considering you can already do it anyway). Sqaure made this game for you to play, not for you to turn on, and then just look away from while you do other things. I never feel bad for people that miss their DF because they tab'd out to go play OSU, or surf the web.

The hostility in this thread is really baffling to me.

    RE: OP's Original Request/Comments
    - I completely agree. I think sometimes as a DD it's painful enough that the wait time can be 30 mins or more on DF. I don't always stay tabbed into the game - and out of consideration for the other person I live with I do not play with the volume on.

I would love to see a feature like what is being suggested -- just a little visual que in case you are tabbed out. I don't see why people are so adamantly/violently against it? If it were implemented in a way that you could "option out" or keep it turned off then I can't imagine what harm it would do?

Also - how annoying is it when the DF has to re-pop because the DD clearly was AFK and missed it in the first place? Not as annoying as tanks/healers withdrawing because the instance isn't already in progress - but still...

Honestly most people here are sounding very hostile, the feature I am asking for is in a lot of windows programs, and should be very simple to add. If people don't alt tab whilst DF is open then good for you, I aren't complaining, I am just stating that this is what some people would do rather than sit around waiting. It's not that I aren't paying attention it's more at that paticular time I don't want to do other things, also if I have maxed my beastmen rep is maxed out, I don't like crafting and gathering isn't really worth it, therefore there is not a lot to do, so why not use another application whilst waiting. We do afterall use PCs to multitask, if you just want to play a game and nothing else that's what consoles are for.

But thank you for showing me the truth of the community. One thing gets requested and because "You should be playing the game" everyone is being hostile, and even attacking me over it

A very big complaint of 1.0 was that we can't alt-tab, and now according to replies in this thread we can't use it because we aren't playing the game?

    hahaha. Ahhhhh.

Could the game txt me when the DF is ready?

Call my mom so that she can call me if i'm not accepting DF within 2 mins?

Maybe a "bat signal" in the sky to warn me the DF is ready !?

BoltNixter, that was a very gratuitous attempt at ridiculing something that fell flat thanks to you not understanding what is being asked: programs that flash in the taskbar aren't some far-fetched only-in-your-wildest-dreams feature. It's something a lot of other programs use and there's even at least one MMO that does exactly that.

Considering there's not much to do besides crafting, gathering or grinding, I think it's a good idea. Not everyone likes those things (I certainly don't like crafting here, and because I don't like crafting I don't like gathering either, and I had all the grinding I would ever want from Lineage 2, thanks), so if they want to alt-tab while waiting for the the content they actually find fun and interesting let them. There's nothing to win in being against such a feature.
