Quite frankly, if that was the theory for the PC in this game based on Mjollnir's view of the information, we could apply this to nearly every game ever released that doesn't give precise backstory to the player characters (RPGs).

I personally would rather believe the character I play was born and raised as a normal [insert race name here], it let's some people create the background of their characters by using their imagination (Role Players) and feels like your actions as a player have more meaning if your avatar is something not unlike yourself in nature rather than a "shell" of a creature created for a single purpose. It would make for quite the twist though.
