What we have failed to understand is that this isn't a vanity system for the players: it's a vanity system for the devs. It wasn't designed so that the players could dress how they want: it's so the devs can have the players dress how they want. And what they want is their silly players to not have any kind of agency or creative output for their characters and, through them, their world. We have to dress according to their guidelines. Because clearly people's dresses ruins the Author's Creative Vision (tm) or something.

Unless you want to dress like a reindeer. I guess that's okay.
