After early access period ends

I've pre-ordered the PS4 version online, and have received a code for the early access period from 4/11 - 4/13. Once this period ends will I need to wait for the game to arrive in the mail before I can resume playing?

I don't think so. When the game was released for PC and PS3 last year, people could still use the early access client for couple weeks after the game was released then you'll have to enter the new code.

Early access just allows you to play a few days earlier than the people that didn't preorder. Once the Early Access period ends it'll just transition right into normal live service.

You've apparently didn't read the question at all or at least missed it's point ...

Nothing was officially announced but as Lemon8or has mentioned above - during the original PC / PS3 release SE gave players a brief - a couple of extra days (although not "several weeks") - grace period between the end of the early access and the time you;d need to enter the game activation code so there is a good chance they'll offer something simillar with PS4 release as well. If not, you'd need to wait and hope the game will arrive without too much delays. You don't need to worry about your characters - they will remain untouched.
