How is a DUALSHOCK 3 controller used on PC

I have owned the ps3 version of the game since launch, and i finally got a PC strong enough to run the game smoothly, but I'm not that good with the keyboard and mouse, because I'm not a PC player really. Is there a program I can use to make it so i can use my ps3 controller on the PC version. I know i have to change my settings, but i tried plugging it in and it doesn't seem to take. i have tried both a 3rd party and official controller.

any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance

I don't know if PS3 have corded, but I'm pretty sure if you have a Bluetooth Card in your PC you can pair them up that way, but I haven't tried myself (prefer the 360 controller when any controller gaming). But I'm pretty sure PS3s use Bluetooth between controllers and system.

Have you looked into MotionJoy? It's a third party driver built to make PS3 controllers work with the PC; I used it for a long while with mine before eventually investing in a controller 'has a toggle for DirectInput and XInput.

Skip MotionJoy. The Scarlet Crush drivers are a lot better. It makes your PS3 controller act like a 360 controller. Just install them, plug in the controller, and you should be good to go.

WHY would PS3 player want perfectly good PS3 controller "act" as xbox one?? MotionJoy migh not be best out there but works fine with PS3 controllers and FF so your recommendation make no sense whatsoever.

Hi, This noob have always been used MotionInJoy program for using the DS3 in PC... Even if I play in PC, as happens to you, I'm really a sad sad player with the keyboard + mouse, my hand usually is in pain if I have to press the "w,a,s,d" keys more than 5 minutes.

If you have any doubt about how to install the MotionInJoy, ask here!...

Also, there's a "local mode" so you can avoid the spam that the home mode has (It uses internet explorer for displaying some adds and that, unlike local)

Bad thing is that... You can't use the DS3- bluetooth function with it, or at least when I tried to use certain bluetooth devices the driver of MotionInJoy just overwritten that... (Probably it is time to get a normal PC gamepad emulating Ps2-Ps3...)

    Use this: http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/

It uses motion in joy's drivers but uses a different (and safer) software to load it. I do not recommend using other drivers for FFXIV for a simple reason: Other drivers emulate the R2 / L2 the same was as xbox's triggers. In other words, you have to completely push it down for the press to be recognized. Motion in joy drivers detect even a slight pressure on the buttons, just like it works with R1 / L1.

That is a huge deal for the cross hot bar, and makes a lot of difference, making it a lot easier to use abilities.

All you have to do is plug your controller into your usb with your charging cable, go into the system menu and enable gamepad, they under type select ps3. No need to download or install anything. The cross hotbar is labeled the exact same as the PS3. This does not, however, work with the PS4 controller.
