Help getting back in the game.

I haven't played with my character for months now. I tried a few times, logged in, walked around for 5 mins and then just logged off....

I can't find the motivation to play. Everytime i log in i just don't find anything to do.

I was playing an Archer and then decided to go with Thaumaturge. Should i be changing classes? What's the most fun class to play?

I was also thinking about starting a new character from scratch... i just don't know where i'm at anymore.. i don't like how my character looks and i find Limsa and it's surroundings boring compared to Ul'Dah.

Should i maybe wait till patch 1.18 or 1.19?

For those who play all the time, what do you find to do that motivates you to play? And please don't talk about crafting... i hate crafting in this game with a passion...

You could wait until 1.18, the job and battle system is getting the start of it's insane overhauls.

Or, if you level a DoW/DoM fast, restart now and you can at least be rank 25 and ready to run the lower level of the new dungeons. There are also the NMs currently around that have rank 25+ gear.

The most fun class to play can only be determined by yourself.

I have to ask why do you think Limsa is boring? If it's simply the environment, that's not really a real excuse to go reroll a character to start in Ul'dah. Anyone can eventually just go walk to Ul'dah easily, it's not like you HAVE to start there. If it's a case of wanting to see a new storyline, I can see reason behind it.

Also SE is giving leves a big slap and a boot to fix them more into a solo player's activity, leve linking SP will be nerfed and soloers will have a bonus SP to finishing the leve. And any type of guildmark earned will be based on where you picked leves from (The nations will only offer marks from where they have their guilds housed at). There is a chance that people may stray away from Ul'dah at that point.

That's a few things to start. Have to weigh your options.

The class that's the most fun to play depends on you. Nobody can tell you what's fun.

Whoa, patch 20.0!? Wonder how long that'll take!?

I did mix up words when I said job system, couldn't remember what else more there was after class balances with the auto attack system.

Just take all classes to R20 then you will have access to lots of skills to help take your chosen class further.

I thought that in the letter Yoshi-P said that Jobs won't make it to patch 1.18 and that it would be for a later patch, once they fix all the battle related stuff or did i read it wrong?

    Hi Onidemon,

If you're on these forums, asking for help, then perhaps some part of you is still genuinely interested in this game.

Maybe one place to start, is to ask yourself, what do *you* want out of "Final Fantasy XIV"? Is it the sense of leveling up like an RPG, to improve your character? Is it the social aspect? Finding a sociable Linkshell and people to chat with in a game setting? Is it a combination of both, so you have people to Level with and socialize with, as you progress every day?

Is it for the Story? The Adventure / Exploration? The World?

After you figure out what you really want out of this game, then you can see if FF XIV is really providing that for you.

For myself, while the game has improved from Day 1, last year, it's still a long ways off. But the various updates from Yoshida-san, and the impending patch 1.18 (with major content and some core changes), along with 1.19 after that, are things that keep me going.

I want to improve myself now, keeping an optimistic view for the promise of something great in the near future.

The Grand Companies of Eorzea with a Rank / Goal-driven System with special Items only gotten from them; Raid Dungeons with long-term goals; Final Fantasy Jobs; a New Combat System with a more Dynamic Layer (like Skillchains); Class / Job Uniqueness in Combat; Airships; a major Storyline with the Garlean Empire Invasion; Ishgard; Ifrit and the Archons; Interesting, Challenging Content / Quests; Major World / Map Revamp & Changes...

Being able to do all of the above with friends in a Final Fantasy World in the near future... that's what motivates me to keep playing right now.

Maybe it'll never get there; maybe it will. I'm holding out hope that it gets better soon.
