The new Allagan set of items needs to have a small customization option.

The new Allagan set of items are going to be at a higher Ilvl than the new tomes gear. IMHO this is definitely a move in the right direction and the way it should have been from the beginning. However, it did introduce an issue which have not been addressed, stat customization. In 2.0-2.1 we were able to have a little bit of freedom in choosing our stats by mixing Allagan gear with mythology gear. Reach the Acc cap then pick the secondary stats you want using a mixture of both sets.

Unfortunately we no longer have that option due to the fact the new tomes gear will be inferior by default as stated in the live letter. There is also a fundamental problem here which is Acc itself, we have no idea if the new Allagan gear itself will have enough Acc. BLM for example had a good portion of Acc held up by the Scepter and shield for their first Allagan set.

I believe it is very important to have a little bit of freedom in picking up our secondary stats so we can shape our characters the way we feel more comfortable with. This can be done by either allowing us to add mats to the new Allagan gear or introduce a restricted system that allows us to swap one secondary stat with another per piece.

I'm pretty sure Yoshi only stated that Allagan WEAPONS will be a higher ilvl than the other 2.2 weapons. It literally makes no sense for the Yoshitomes armour to be of a lower ilvl than Allagan armour.

Nay he stated the entire set will be at a higher Ilvl. The reason was to motivate players to clear the second coil.

In 2.0 the items obtained from Bahamut's Coil was the same level as Mythology Tome gear so I believe that might have affected some players motivation to try Coil out. But this time we put in some changes so that they won’t be equal (same.)

With this information in hand it can be assumed that High Allagan armor will be level 110 and Soldiery Tomestone gear will be level 100.

Nah it is not. You can't just have the best gear in the game handed to everyone freely. As for the mixing and matching, this thread aims to have a new customization option .

If 'best gear' means 'highest iLevel' then you have an odd idea of what 'best' means. If you've ever played even one Monster Hunter game then you'd know that 'best' and 'highest level' sometimes don't coincide. The armor in this game seems to fall in with this mentality in about the same frequency as Monster Hunter. Take the best hand piece for White Mage (hint: it's Darklight).
