Re-release PvP

No one is doing PvP anymore. It's seriously impossible for anyone to rank up or catch up to the people with gear capable of killing them in 10 seconds. Why is there PvP gear at all? I loved the shit out of Ballista and never missed a match. Just do that. Give us Ballista. 4 person clusterfvcks and running in circles is not PvP. Strategy, please. Even if you max out in PvP gear, how is it fun if no one stands a chance just because your gear is OP? Really poor system. Just do it over, please.

I don't think they need to re-do the existing PvP as such, just incentivise queueing for it more, and close the gap between the ranks 30s and everyone else, which they're making steps to do in 2.2. In 2.25 there's going to be a large emphasis on PvP, upping the rank to 40 and hopefully fixing some of the many concerns we have with it. Frontlines PvP is also scheduled for 2.3, which hopefully will be the PvP people are looking for.

I agree with Luhy. FFXIV has managed to take allot of quality aspects of a good MMO and mash them all together to make the game a non-grind quality MMO that anyone can play, from casuals to hardcore players. However, the PvP system they have created was clearly rushed and has absolutely no interesting content to it. All you do is take 4 players, put them together in a big circle and see which one is left standing... It has no purpose... They have successfully taken aspects from other MMOs to build the game up so this time, try to take some tips from other games with excellent PvP systems and give us a reason to want to PvP.

Some people like arena battles, I do. The only thing that sucks immensely are the long wait times, everyone had to deal with them. If it was instant I'd be so happy. In the next update you will be able to equip partial direwolf gear starting from rlvl20. With full ilvl 70 pvp gear some skills, and ilvl90 pvp accessories as starting you can do serious damage. This is awesome what they're doing. So the people who whine about getting owned will have no reason to do so as there will be matchmaking based on current rlvl's too. I used to get owned too, I leveled up got the gear and dish it out now, this is the way of the RPG game.

I'm 100% agree.
The only problem are the queue time. The only cap for gear (R30) will be removed, so you will have just a linear progression of gear. People are crying for nothing.

Ballista Fan *cheer* ...needz moar 1-shot taruness Mixed feelings a bit though. I admit the pvp exclusive armors a pretty nice concept...kinda like the fighter pilot getting his wings and jacket, something to look forward to as ya progress. Can also see the logic behind the gradual direwolf building coming in upcoming patch, since it'll make 50s more accessible for more people. Even so, just kinda feels like getting r30 won't be as...enjoyable anymore lol..especially considering all the beatdowns ya take getting there. Either way though, this 'version' of pvp we currently have still just seems like the salad before the main course, so I keep finding myself telling people not to expect too much for now...just get your feet wet and get ready for the fun to come. Crappy arena and setup for now, ya..so just use the time to work out a functioning technique for your preferred job (also another reason why I enjoyed the grind..lotsa time to improve technique)
