RMT Spam- SqEnix lazy, or just doesn't care? Or greedy?

So. I get tells. You get tells. I'm pretty sure everyone gets tells. Their elegant names are generated by pounding on the keyboard, usually.

How is this behavior THIS easy? They're level one. I have a rhetorical question for the devs:

What level one needs to send a tell to everyone on the server?

Noone does. For a REAL PLAYER, if this new player gets started by their friend, they might send a tell to that person. Or they might send a tell to a person they see.

At no point will a real player go down the list in player search, and send a 2-3 line tell to each person.

So why is it possible? And apparently, EASY? I just ate some food, came back to FOUR tells from the same guy. Blacklisting individual spammers is a band-aid on a gaping chest wound.

Make the system non-stupid. If someone wants to spam tells, limit them SEVERELY until they've been on a couple days. Or until they've entered in a credit card or something. Make the spammers burn their stolen credit card numbers.

And whenever one of these accounts gets nailed, permaban anything from the same IP. Take a hard look at anything from the same range. Permaban anything from that credit card, except for something that looks like a real player. Then investigate them too, and ban them for buying gil (how do you THINK the gil farmers got that credit card number??)

And once an account sends a certain number of tells, stop delivering them. This is a fun solution: cornfield ban. The person spamming the entire server with tells SEES the tells delivered, but once they get blacklisted by X people, ALL the tells are FAKE-sent. Nobody else gets pestered with them.

The only reason that I can think of that they would let things stay the way they are now, is if they simply want the money from the hundreds of account signups? That they make enough money from the flood of soon-banned accounts to cover the charged-back cards? Because the only other reasons that I can think of are apathy or incompetence. I think I slightly prefer greed to those option. :P

Please explain how to combat RMT? I'm sure every mmo developer will shower you in riches.

On the plus side though, gil is basically useless in this game. You can't buy good equips.

If it isn't game balance you're worried about, and just irritated by the tells...idk...for me idm to block them, takes 2 clicks. Limiting tell usage would have a more negative affect on the game, than what you are currently going through with the annoying tells.

SE continually bans hundreds of accounts and they post their numbers every so often. Perhaps you're not aware of this effort that is already in place.

We're seeing an increase in RMT tell activity because a major patch is due in less than a week. Their activity will cycle down again soon.
