    Trade NPC's?

I was just thinking about all the crap I sell to the NPC because I can't be bothered to sell it in the wards and was thinking it would be good if players could actually buy this stuff back from the NPC.

So if I sold a load of stuff, a player could go the the NPC and look though all the stuff that had been sold to it and buy it back. Maybe the NPC could sell the items for x3 the price they pay for them or something to help remove some Gil from the economy. So if I sold it to the NPC for 100 Gil a player could buy it back for 300 Gil.

They could even have a central NPC in each city that you sell your stuff to and then have a NPC in each ward to buy from. So if you sold some Zinc ore to the Central NPC that would then go to the NPC in the Masons Ward. The could add it to the item search list and have a new tab for items available from the NPC.

I just thought this would be useful for Crafters as I am sure I am not the only one who NPC's a lot of stuff that could be useful to a Crafter.

    Thoughts?

Your idea reminds me of GW, where you sell materials and colors to npc for a marketprice (supply and demand) and other players can buy back it for a little more (there was a minimum price for each item though).

Well I never played GW so I don't know about that, but I just think it would be a good way for crafters to be able to get all those little mats that people usually junk or NPC.

It's not really an auction house, well not in the sense I am aware of. You go and NPC a load of stuff, NPC pays you the normal fixed price. Players then go to the NPC's in the wards and can buy these items for x3 the price the NPC paid you for it.

This is for the junk items really, you wouldn't do this with a Crab Bow+3 as the NPC would probably only give you 10k for it, where as on the wards you could sell it for 10 mill+. it's just something that allows you to get rid of a lot of stuff you don't want but still help out crafters or other people that might need these items.

In GW, the crafting system was different and you could dye clothes different colors. Also there were "runes" you could apply to your armor and equipment to give it special stats, or pieces of weapons you could use, and those were able to be sold to the special NPCs.

For example, you could sell a Vial of Blue Dye to the "Dye Trader" for 400 gold, but vending it to a regular merchant NPC would give you 1 gold. The NPC then lists "Vial of Blue Dye" for 1 platinum 100 gold to sell.

It actually worked pretty well as a gold sink since you always got paid less for the dye than other people would pay to have it, and it was much easier than spamming the Trade channel.

As for crafting, basically you just brought different materials to NPCs, chose a recipe, and they would craft the item for you 100% success. Or you could go to the Material Trader or Rare Material Trader and sell the items to him, or buy them from him (you could only buy/sell in stacks of 10).

It probably wouldn't work so well in FFXIV because there are so many crafting materials.

How about NPC Merchants wondering the roads between the camps where you buy/sell/trade with.
