Titan HM advice for an Aussie with lag?

First thing to mention, I'm more of a crafter than a combatant. My experience with dungeons and primals has been minimal at best and usually reluctant at that. Just wish to get my relic weapon and be able to help friends get theirs. Gear and my stats listed at bottom of post post-edit.

Does anyone have any SCH advice for Titan HM?

I've not tried that fight yet but will soon and am a bit nervous after hearing it's a big step up from the other HM primals. I'm also worried about lag, as I'm Australian playing on a EU server.

Should I be moving constantly to pre-empt every skill he uses, regardless of target? I'm worried that might mean I can't cast as much as will be needed, but at the same time I don't want lag to mean it's too late to get out of the way of things aimed in my direction if he does choose to target me.

I'm already trying to learn the rotations of skills listed in various guides (although it's been difficult finding a recent SCH POV guide, the stuff I'm relying on came out last year).

What I'm seeing is to mainly focus on Galvanise related spells and other general damage mitigation, not so much healing directly, and to keep Eos off the edge of the field (?) when possible while spamming constant free fairy heals. Virus when possible or just before big damage, Sacred Soil and Succor just before jumps, Adloq always on tank, fairly typical stuff.

What I'm mainly concerned about is if I should be running around constantly to combat lag and sacrificing spells to all the interruptions that would cause, or not, or how to balance those sorts of things throughout the fight.

Oh, and one other thing the guides I've read haven't been clear on is if I should go full time DPS during Heart phase or not. As a SCH, which is generally more valuable to the group between CS+debuffs+Ruins or heals+buffs during Heart phase?

    My stats and gear:

    Average iLvl: 70

    Mind 411
    Int 271
    Pie 285

    Acc 401
    Crit 497
    Det 320

    Healing Pot 411
    Spell Speed 527
    Attk Pot 271

    HP 3873
    MP 3687

    All HQ gear with melds:
    Deus Ex Gratia
Vanya Hat of Healing, Robe of Healing, Gloves of Healing, Sash of Healing, Breeches of Healing
    Spruce Pattens
    Rose Gold Earrings
    Astral Choker, Bracelet, Ring*2

If you have lag issues I recommend lowering your graphic settings. This will make some of his moves easier to dodge and it helped me. As for his rotations just keep in mind that half way through the fight he changes it up a bit then enters and enraged mode; which also makes the rotations and damage accumulate much faster than before. Back when my FC and I were still new and didn't have our relic+1s he took us roughly 2-3 weeks to take down. It takes a lot of practice if you are rolling up in there with a "fresh" team of people. My best advice is to just hang in there and remember that perseverance is key to beating him. Good luck!

Thank you very much! I'll be sure to keep graphics on the standard laptop settings.

I had the same issue once, having to do titan with a 2 second delay. This is pretty much what I had to do, because it was *that* bad.

Stand and angle yourself (from titan to you) away from everyone and stay close to the corners. This way, it benefits you in three ways: when the plumes spawn, you're not having to eat and/or dodge someone else's plume. 2. When titan jumps up, the closer you are to titan, the more damage you take. Hence why shortest distance to an edge is best -- you won't make it to the north spot where everyone else is gathered at. 3. Landslides are targetted. You'll have a lesser chance of needing to dodge (and potentially not move out of the way fast enough.

Unfortunately, despite measures taken to avoid death .. you most likely *will* end up eating plumes. I suggest you adlo/stoneskin if it gets really bad. I also *highly* suggest you top up your own hp if you know titan's about to jump up or when tumults are about to happen. If I remember right, weakness is a massive slap to your wrist if you have a lot of lag + have that much hp (1hko with weakness I think?? ): ). You'll also want to remember where to stand for bomb formations.

Please also note that this isn't a strategy at all for titan extreme. This is exclusive to Titan HM.

    Practice.

And don't get to down when you die, because it will happen. If you can get a handle on his rotation you will know exactly what to expect at each step, which helps you to know when NOT to cast. When you feel comfortable with the fight, put a group up in PF that only has one tank. If your server is like mine than it shouldn't take too long to fill. I've also found that this is one fight where melee > ranged, so if you have a lot of MNKs in your FC, get them to help

Good Luck, and don't give up!

Thanks a lot you guys ^_^

xAlice, you mention eating plumes but that puts me in mind of eating food, are there any good food for scholars for this fight? Also, what did you mean by "stay close to the corners"? Isn't it a round arena? Or did you mean the compass off directions (like if Titan's standing to the north, the corners might be NE, NW, SE and SW)?

I don't think I'd have the confidence to run a PF group XD But I am keeping an eye out for any practice parties in there and I'll probably practice a bit with my FC if we're ever on at the same time (I have a rotating sleep schedule so am completely out of sync with them at the moment ;.; ). I'm sure we can get together a few good MNK's ^_^

Knew I should've fixed that. lol

By corners I mean the edge of the arena (?) When titan jumps up into the air, a red circle appears which show you where the edge is. Standing outside that circle and you will fall when titan comes back down cuz the arena(?) gets smaller. Where you want to stand is just inside the circle.

Food .. I use Buttons in a Blanket. But it's not a make or break - I typically only use it for the really hard raids eg. Extreme primals.

Also, because HM primals are a part of the relic quest, I don't think anyone could fault you for learning Titan HM unless you join up an experienced run. That said, PF should be okay.

Depends on your ISP and location too. If you're in Sydney, you shouldn't be much of a lagger.
If you live anywhere else but Melbourne and maybe Brisbane, and are not on Internode ISP, you may get some latency issues which means you'll really be a lagger and need to step your game up.

Internode has a direct fiber line from Australia to Japan which, even if you're not on Fiber, you still make benefit of. I live far north of Brisbane and my ping is 180, and it really seems as if I have none because sometimes I've dodged Ifrit plumes and such just as they explode and remain unharmed. Though the moment you go 200+ it seems to be a bit more of a different story.

I know people in Melbourne who aren't with Internode but still get a healthy 160 or so PING (iiNet), but unless you're near Sydney you may want to avoid Telstra & DoDo as they have some pretty terrible routing. With two people in the same town, both of them on different ISP's, they get 250 PING and I'm on 180. Internode, for-the-win!

Reason why I mention being close to Sydney is because every internet hub pretty much goes to Sydney before traveling overseas. If you're with Internode and live in Sydney you pretty much get 100 PING which is pretty amazing. Any other ISP you'd be under 150, also healthy.

Check your PING which can be seen with an obvious google search on 101 ways to find out how and the details. If you're 200+ and serious about minimising latency, switch to Internode (or yell at your ISP/Housing because the exchange or lines in your house/area could be fudged); If not, then nothing more can be said besides learn the game's patterns.
Titan Extreme although possible you may find some difficulty in it by being over 200 PING since the cross (or line bombs) cause a lot of troubles for people.

Since you're a SCH, slap Adlo on yourself if you're scared about being hit. Perhaps get Stoneskin, as well.

When you can try to invest in a desktop, laptops don't have high processing power plus they overheat easily.

I would never try Titan on a laptop, the only thing I do on the laptop is solo grinding and disciple of the land. But I don't think it is a connection to the server that is your problem, it most definitely would be the laptop that is slowing your dodges.
