CoP was hard. And not just in the typical FFXI way of being extremely time consuming. Although it was also that.

People complained every time CoP was made easier too, because they failed to understand that hard content gets harder on it's own over time by nature of all the good players not wanting to do it anymore, and especially not with new or inexperienced players.

I was going to say, CoP went through the same adjustments we're seeing now. But with CoP, the difficulty was reduced after many complaints and after many months--some adjustments were many years--following CoP's release. In the case of FFXIV, difficulty reduction was planned from the start.

Well anyone who has the attitude to wait for a nerf is not looking for a challenge. If you really want a challenge you will seek the most difficult content like Leviathan Extreme and Second Coil, even knowing that slower players will be entitled to the same rewards months later, purely for the thrill of the challenge.

I'm not disappointed at all. In fact I don't consider this a nerf at all. It is a BUFF. Not a nerf. They arent TAKING AWAY from the game. They are adding to it... Besides, we've had ample time to play around with the first 5 turns of coil and primals and what have you. If you do consider this a nerf, it doesnt seem any different than things they did in XI in the past. They made CoP easier or instance so new players could clear the content because everyone had done it already and moved on. Obviously SE feels the time is right to help new players get caught up.

XI system was dumb, and honestly so are you. stop trying to deny stuff to other people because of your precious epeen. you won't be doing 1-5 anymore, and even if you are it's already going to be trivialized by higher ilevel gear that you get from 6-9.

You get bragging rights if you have completed difficult content before it gets nerfed.

New content usually raises the bar somehow and gives you new bragging rights if you stay on top of it.

Even if old content gets nerfed and people catch up to you and subsequently surpass you, they will never have the bragging rights of having been there, done that with all the pre-nerfed content.
