Crafting is used as a steeping stone to get the best gears in a game. It is fine as is. There would be little motivation to do endgame content if you could just buy the best gear from the market boards.

    THIS

What is the point of end game gear from Coil, if you can just wait for people to craft the equivalent gear?

The same thing has been shown right now, why bother coil for i90 if you can just get Tome gear full i90? Sure your not full BiS, but no one kicks you from a party if your not full BiS....(LF1 Full i90 DPS) they do not care about BiS...So most people never play coil and just gear up with tomes. Which is the whole point, Yoshi put all the best gear in t6-9 so you would have a reason (beyond getting those BiS gloves) to enter coil.

This argument goes both ways. There's little motivation to specialize in a class that gathers resources to create items (gathering) or a class that specializes in the actual creation of those items (crafting) when players can get equipment that is roughly equivilent or better with next to no effort by repeating dungeons.

The only way to keep both high level combat content and crafting/gathering relevant in terms of progression would be to have desirable items come from both. Right now it's severely skewed in favor of only one, and the state of the current economy, crafting and gathering jobs is what it is as a result.

It's like I said I made 30m since the game came out crafting casually not even hard core. The ability to make gil is definitely motivator to level all your crafts up.

Crafting also may be even more important this time around due to the fact tome gear is only ilvl100 only coil 6-9 gear is 110. In a lot of cases 5 meld 90 will be better then a ilvl 100 non crafted.

The ability to make gil isn't an issue. It's that crafting, gathering, and the markets have very little impact on high level content.

You said yourself that "There would be little motivation to do endgame content if you could just buy the best gear from the market boards." If you can see why this is the case, then you should also be able to see why many find little motivation to craft.

Crafting isn't the main point and focus of the game, its high level pve content gets the main focus. Like you can't just level a craft and use that to do the story quests.

Crafting may not be the main focus of the game, but when they're not even that proficient in the one thing that they're meant to do (item creation), it makes them feel useless. Some people may like that and want combat jobs to trump everything, but of course there will be people who think that crafters and gatherers should have a place as well.

they do have a place? How do you not understand that? Vanya for healers and casters was a great way to upgrade while we waited for our next i90...OMG and this next patch? Think of this...IMAGINE THIS

ALL i110 is from COIL ONLY....Coil is RNG

CRAFTING is i90 with materia slots making it better then current i90
High Lvl tomes is ilvl 100
This most likely means Crafting i90 will be better then some if not most ilvl 100

THIS MEANS, everyone will be trying to get their hands on crafting ilvl 90 gear

How are they not proficient at making items that's all they can do? And you can make millions and millions of gil crafting and selling items. What more do you want?
