    I hope they never make crafting vital to end-game. It should be, in theory, a nice supplement, but the moment we require crafters is sort of, for me, the same as requiring PVP to PVE. I don't want to mix the two. I want PVE-endgame to be about fighting hard and earning gear, not about farming for hours to save up money to buy my Haubergeon and Noble's Tunic again.

    But then it becomes the question, why have crafting at all? Whenever I see this kind of argument it brings the question "Why even have crafting period if it is of no use to anyone, including the person making it?"

    Because having crafitng be a "supplement" while nice, means that the vast majority isn't actually going to use it.

    Crafting things that have little to do with end game, in a style of game where end game is most important, means the vast majority isn't going to use it.

    So why have it at all?

    Couldn't we compromise? Maybe have level 50 crafters use material from dungeons to reforge gear from dungeons with altered stats?

    Crafter's would be better suited for horizontal progression that new materia system Yoshi-P mention could be useful to be able to unlocked materia slots for end game gear and attact them to gear just have right rare materials to unlock slots and im not talking about str/dex etc stats like cure potency +5% as example.

    Crafting is used as a steeping stone to get the best gears in a game. It is fine as is. There would be little motivation to do endgame content if you could just buy the best gear from the market boards.
    The thing is, the way penta-melded best-crafted shit is at, it costs millions, think 1-2 millions per piece, IF you're lucky and spiritbond your own more-pricy stuff (like crit and vit materia), takes way longer than just token myth gear to get, and is only slightly better.

    That's not a "stepping stone" gear to the top, given the effort it takes. To many, it's the top. It might not have the best stats, but it comes with a sense of accomplishment, bragging rights and other stuff that "raider BiS or game sucks" people will never understand.

    But who is asking for crafted gear to be BiS... Crafters just want to be relevant and have a place in the top tier progression not make BiS pieces...
    More of you need to read, or just stop trying to troll for the sake of trolling.

    There are ways to do it and its really up to SE on how they want to move forward with the game as a whole....

    seriously though end of the day what does it matter when you can always build the party you want for any content? Most of it aside from Tit Ex and Twin is easily clearable with most parties. Also I have never been not taken to a party if I was under the pf requirement I always ask them if I can join and say kick me if I am bad. because that I90 myth tomes buyer might be great at grinding but terrible in focussed boss fights... So most of these arguments made are moot anyways, or coming from the farthest periphery of what can happen in game.

    While i think crafters shouldn't be able to make top gear on par with stuff you get in high pve content, it would be nice if they could figure out a way(i have no ideas though) that crafters could enhance/modify that same pve gear giving more purpose to gear crafting classes.

    Hell, if it's about the greed crafters are supposed to have, I'd like to be able to craft some nice and relevant equipment only I, the crafter, can equip. Even if it requires drops (you can't sell or trade either) from the same dungeons that drop the BiS.
    Or is it still too greedy ?
    What are crafters supposed to do once they reach 50 ?
