I don't know if it would make them more money, but I can say I won't get one with a recurring fee. We're talking a few MB of HDD space here. I'd probably grab one for a one-time fee of $2-3(or if SE wanted to bundle things a bit to make more immediate cash, two for $5 or three for $10). That not being the case though, I'll continue managing my inventory normally.
